Historical Traveler Reviews Marriott's Villas at Doral Miami
The best choice!
We stayed at the Villas this march with my husband and for kids. It was fantastic. Very comfortable Villa with two bedrooms, full kitchen, laundry, 3 televisions. Supermarket is very near (about one mile) same as many restaurants. Service was superb. We called for towels and in a minute we had them. My husband needed a tool for his bycicle and inmediatly there was a man who even helped him doing what he needed to do. The front desk attendants were very very kind. Two little problems: the pillows are really hard (First time this happened to us in a Marriott), and when we use the sofabed of the bedroom you have to do miracles to walk around. You can go to the Marriott Resort Golf and Spa that is in front of the Villas (very pretty as we saw in photos), but we never did. I will definitely stay again in this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay very much. I felt like home. Sorry for my english, my language is spanish :)
Golf great, everything else Okay
My family and I are vacation owners and we were not as happy with this Marriott Villa as others. We went over President's week 05. The Doral golf resort is probably the best in Miami and the driving range and golf facility in general are outstanding for golfing families but the rest of the facilities and amenities were not great. The pool at the Villas was fine and the views from the rooms is great but walking across the street to the Resort and Spa was a hassle although there is a shuttle that takes you if needed. The tennis was really good, Lisa, did a great job setting up matches and the pros are top notch. They also offer a lot of clinics which my wife enjoyed. There is lots to do in Miami and we recommend Biscayne National park for the snorkeling trip. Tom, the mgr. was oversold for the regular boat, so he took my family and I on his personal fishing boat. The reef was beautiful and there was a tremendous amount to see underwater. Larios is a really great restauraunt close to the Villas.
Throughly enjoyed my stay!!
This hotel was wonderful. The room was a 2-room suite and very spacious. The front desk person was very helpful and even opened the gift shop after hours. This resort was not crowded at all, unlike its sister hotel/resort across the street. I am going to stay at this resort again this year. I really enjoyed my stay there, and the extra $$ for taking their time-share tour wasn't bad either.
I stayed at the Villas, X-mas 2004.
The place was great - high standard in service, nice atmosphere and close to everything in the nearby area. The manager at the resort were very helpful, when we lost our baggage at the airline, and we will always remember the hospitality from the staff.
The rooms were perfect and the resort could make all our dreams come true.
Disappointed with this Marriott
We were quite disappointed in this resort as we have stayed at Marriotts before and they have always been excellent. The rooms were nicely furnished and big, however there were stains all over the carpets, no extractor fans in either of the bathrooms, the towel rails were falling off the walls and there were lots of little bits that had not been finished or were not maintained very well. The other major problem with the resort is that the pool is only in sunshine from the early morning until about 11.30 am, it then goes into shadow, consequently the pool is freezing cold.
The area the resort is in has lots of nice shopping centres and restaurants and the Marriott Spa and Golf resort is just opposite with a bus service between the two resorts. This resort is not yet finished, with two more buildings due to go up in the near future, however there was no building work carrying on while we were there. The resort is also quite central to the main roads in Miami and it is a good base if you are planning to travel around South Florida as we did. It is also very close to the airport.
Stayed here with a group of friends, fantastic hotel, big clean suite with good facilities, great on site facilities, huge pool, gym etc i'm sure it's great for golf lovers as we looked onto one of the biggest golf courses i've ever seen. location is good, short drive to malls resteraunts etc and not all that far frrom South Beach.
Marriott Villas at Doral A! OK!
The Villas at Doral were beautiful. The two bedroom condo was spacious, well decorated equipped with a whirlpool tub in the master bedroom, and many other amenities. The balcony had a beautiful view and a table which allowed for dining inside and outside. The property is conveniently located 15 minutes from Miami Airport and 20 minutes outside of South Beach. There are a number of cheap eats and ethnic restaurants surrounding the property and a friendly staff willing to provide suggestions. The Doral Golf Resort across the street was open and accessible, however, most of the listed activities were unavailable. Also extremely expensive to golf. The villas has a sales center in the lobby and we listened to a time share presentation, however staff was not pushy. The only downfall: there is no room service, therefore if you just want rest and relaxation w/o cooking etc., this is not the place. Additionally, housekeeping neglected to clean our room even though they indicated we were on the list. In certain cases, (and we were not given a clear explanation), you have to call 24hours in advance for maid service. We were compensated with a $25 Amex gift certificate for the maid service oversight and all was well.
WOW ! The Villas at Doral has it all !
the villas are next to the famous spa and golf club. the apartments are spacious and beautifully decorated. the staff is very helpful.its only a short jaunt to miami's south beach, the action spot of florida. its geared for whatever your heart desiers, what more can you ask for. a definite must see. very few resorts can offer what the doral can.
Not yet complete
We were surprised at the location not only of the Marriott Villas but the Doral Resort. It is located next to the Miami airport in a so-so part of town. If you play golf and have money to burn on green fees, this is the place for you. If you play tennis, bring a partner to play with. They only had one clinic at 8:00am daily, and hitting with the pro cost 85.00 dollars per hour. The Villa was beautifully decorated and spacious. If you stay there, request room 5103; super location on the ground floor. The front desk is, like all Timeshares, bare-boned staffed. The front desk can only handle one customer at a time so be prepared for times when no answer is received at the front desk and when friends and family calling you are disconnected. And the language barrier is a real problem. If you speak spanish, this will NOT be a problem. Overall rating in our book: Fair
Miami Marriott Style
Marriott's Villas at Doral is the place to stay when comfort and convience are most important. I have stayed at a number of Marriott Villas and this location continues the pattern. The staff is friendly and professional. The accomodations are very comfortable and spacious. The locaion is quiet but not in the boonies. access to the interstate is 5 minutes and South Beach (Sobe) is only a 15 minute drive with heavy traffic. My wife and two kids (teenagers) had a great time. We took advantage of the resort pools, 3 TVs, Microwave, Fridge, Washer&Dryer, Dishwsher, Blender, 2 Bathrooms, AC, 2 bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. There are plenty of restaurants nearby if you want to dine before joyning the night life in Southbeach. There are also restaurants lining Ocean Drive in Southbeach. My favorite restaurant is "A Fish called Avilon". If you really want to party check out "Levels" also located in SouthBeach. Rent a comfortable car because sightseeing is a must. if you forgot anything don't worry, there are two malls 15 minutes from the resort.

... so he that became part of the set-up Then Hurricane Wilma flooded the motel, everything was wrecked, and they decided to focus on turtles from then on. The hospital now looks after turtles that are injured, have tumours, or are sick. They can get terrible injuries from being hit by boats. It can make them paralysed, or have bubble butt, which means air is stuck inside the shell so they can't dive for food. When we visited, they had 55 turtles. Most will go back to sea when they ...

Jennifer turns 12 today. When Vera and I asked her how she wished to celebrate her birthday she said she wanted either a paintball outing or a party at home, and in the end she elected for the party at home; also in part because she knew her mom was not crazy about the paintball outing idea - LOL.

Some Americans believe going to war was the countries biggest mistake, war for profit has cost the country greatly. Regardless, Americans are truly proud of their war veterans and their families and support them to the nth degree.
