Schnitzels and Beer
We arrived in Vienna Sunday by train from Munich. The train journey took 4.5 hours. It was a bit of a panic getting on the train as we had just activated our EurRail card and had 2 minutes before the drain departed. The train was very comfortable and traveled at speeds up to 200km/hr.
Vienna is a beautiful city. There are a lot of tourists …
Vienna - Viennese Orchestra
Since we were staying in Vienna a couple of extra days before we fly to Paris, we got to sleep in for the first time in 15 days. I only got up because I wanted my free breakfast before 10 am. When I finished we found a Laundromat to clean a few of cloth for Paris and then we packed up and move to the Marriott Courtyard for 2 days. The Highlight of …
Castles, Castles, Castles
Well hello from Europe! After flying kittywompus through Washington DC, Brussels, Belgium, I finally landed in Munich, exhausted, but really happy to see Ryan and Patti. I knew it was going to be a long drive to Vienna, so we made a few stops on the way - first for much-needed caffeine, and then in Southern Germany (Bavaria) at King Ludwig II's …
The Luxury Leg: Part 1
Hello from Prague! Because we haven't written in so long, I guess we should start all the way back in Salzburg, Austria, around September 10 and 11. We drove from Innsbruck to Salzburg the long way. Ryan talked me into taking a 6 hour drive instead of a 1.5 hour drive so that we could drive through a national park. I was not happy about this …
You Sit Down
This is my first trip to a German-speaking country. As I wondered in advance about the relating to the Viennese, somewhat scary (and skilled) German doctor I have in Rochester came to mind. Would I face dour, disapproving Austrians, scowling at my clumsy German and American manners?
Our first morning at breakfast, we had a little fun with this …

Historical Traveler Reviews Vienna Marriott Hotel
Good location but tacky hotel
I stayed at this hotel for three nights in January. When I first walked into the hotel, I was depressed and dissapointed. The lobby is tacky. There is an American sports bar in the lobby and it feels like an airport. While the location of the hotel was very good, when I was inside the hotel, I felt like I could be at a Marriott in Kansas City and not Vienna. The rooms are small and bland. I would not return to this hotel.
OK but no charm
The hotel is well located, service was fine but it has 0 charm. Rooms are OK, nothing special, a bit tired. I would stay somewhere else unless you are using points or getting an incredible low rate. No frills, no surprises, dull.
Excellent stay
Great hotel - couldn't ask for more - big, awesome room, excellent location, great staff.
Great Hotel, Great Location
My parents and I stayed at this hotel Thanksgiving 2003. We were so pleased with our western-style accomondations (i.e., large rooms, air conditioning, full amenties) for such a reasonable price - not common in Europe. It exceeded all of our expectations. The subway (U-Bahn) station is just a few blocks away and we were at Stephansplatz within 15 minutes.
Perfect location for a city break
We stayed at the Vienna Marriot for a long weekend in April. Hard to fault this hotel, fantastic location on the Ringstrasse and in walking distance of almost everything. The staff were efficient and helpful. Vienna is a wonderful, enchanting city with the most fantastic architecture.
When we return to this charming city again, we shall have no hesitation in booking our room at the Vienna Marriott.
Angry Non Smoker
Nice but smoke filled. Wonderful rooms, very fast service, good breakfast, unremarkable food otherwise, pleasant though small swimming pool. The big problem: I could hardly escape from cigarette smoke.
Their spacious lobby seems lost in a permanent cloud of smoke. Normally there are no non-smoking tables at the restaurant. Luckily the breakfast buffet is smoke-free and so is Thursday night dinner. But what if your stay doesn't include Thursday night?
Blinding Gaff !
In my eyes the best Marriott in Europe ! Lovely rooms, great service, beautiful Spa & pool and a great Sports bar with normal price booze and good value food at the ramp. Within 5 minutes walk of the Hotel is a Hooters and an Irish Bar which also help towards entertainment.
Sweet as a nut !
Felt like a first class American Hotel
The Marriott was fabulous. The rooms were larger than those in Europe, the air conditioning worked well (most hotels do not have air in Europe), and the work out room was nice to have as well. There are nice restaurants located within the hotel and many within walking distance.I would stay at the Marriott again nexzt time I visit Vienna.
Marriott Vienna forever!!!
i stayed there for 2 weeks and i have to say that the marriott in vienna is the best hotel i've ever seen ... the staff is so friendly and polite and everything is so definitely perfect ... but the best at the hotel over all are the cooks, they are nice and extraordinary good cooks ... i'm going to stay there at every holiday i have, i love vienna and the marriott, it's the best hotel i've ever seen and i only can recommend it to everyone who travells to vienna !!!

Typical Marriott Fare
I stayed here for 2 nights in late 2000. The hotel location is good on the Ringstrasse (sp?). It was our last stop on a 2 week 3 country visit to Europe.
The hotel is typical 4-star Marriott fare. The common areas are modern, open, and spacious. It has all the amenities you expect from a large hotel including fitness center, resturants, gift shops, room service, etc.
Our room had a comfortable king bed. The room was neither large nor small. It was very comfortable and enjoyable. The neighborhood was fairly upscale.
The staff was generally helpful. Our only problem was failure to post our pre-pay to our room bill. They quickly resolved it when brought to their attention.
Overall, I would stay there again if the rate is good.
