Now we are up and about and ready for off - France here we come!!!!! Thought it only fair that we did Maidstone fair, we had a walk into town to get some last minute essentials and found the rest of the town we had missed the night before. It has a very nice shopping area and full of hidden streets with a good selection of shops

Saw the old naval college, the National Maritime Museum and most importantly, my first obviously Palladian style mansion, Queen's House. Walked up to the Royal Observatory and stepped on the prime meridian. Came back to Greenwich town and had some jam ...
Maidstone is maybe not the most exciting destination, but as we have no choice in this, and will be visiting the place daily for a month, the need is to make the most of it.
