Prague

Prague is lots of fun! We arrived on Friday night and have had lots and lots of beer! We've walked around quite a bit and have been eating in delicious restaurants. We wandered across Charles Bridge and looked at Prague Castle at night. We'll go back in the daytime to explore the castle.

I used an ATM where a scammer had placed a piece of hard brown plastic with a sticky back in front of the cash slot. The plastic looked like a part of the machine, so it was intended that you would as...

Another great day in Prague

Today was another really fun relaxing day in Prague. We wandered through Wenceslas Square and around Old Town Prague. We also visited the Museum of Communism and saw some interesting artifacts and videos about communist control of Czechoslovakia.

We went to the Strahov Monastery where the monks brew beer. We enjoyed delicious beers at a couple of restaurants on the monastery grounds. After dinner and drinks, we took two trams down the hill and across the river -- it was a bit difficul...

Prague is the capital of Czech Republic, which is located in central Europe. It's a small city, that the visitor can easily walk through the whole old town and the castle in one day. There are plenty of buildings, monuments and churches to visit and get some idealic photos! Souvenir shops are all over the city and amazing cafes and hotels are waiting to make your stay unforgetable...

Weekend in Prague

Ok, quick, quick update from the Bohemia Bagel internet cafe. We did the "planes, tranes, and automobiles" thing all day Thursday to get here. Train to Paris, put girls on the plane home, hopped a Lufthansa flight to Munich, ran to make a connection and ended up in Prague by 5ish in a rainstorm. Major results of the day, KC discovers that he likes turkey sandwiches (thanks Lufthansa!) and somehow falls in love with tomatoes as well. Friday we hit Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and Old Town, fi...

One City Down - Three to Go!

Well, here goes my first blog. We have titled it our great adventure as Kelly and I have set off our honeymoon journey to Eastern Europe. We left Sunday afternoon and it was beautiful that day. John and Gerry fed us and took us to the airport (thanks John!). We had no issues as we flew from Pittsburgh to Atlanta, except for the cold I could feel coming on. We will talk about this later... Anyway, we left for Prague at about 7:30 and arrived with no issues at about 11:00 AM local time . There ...

Arriving in Prague and Prague By Night

Arrived at Prague Holesovice station from Bratislava at 12.30pm and took the metro to Namestie Republiky station then walked to our hotel, Marriott Prague. After the hotel eventually found our reservation we were shown to our room by one of the porters who then lingered in our room in search of a tip. Even resorting to the fake coughing to alert us to the fact we may have forgotten something. He left empty handed. Settled into our room then walked down the street to a sandwich place for lunch...

Sights of Prague

Got up at 8.30am and had breakfast before walking to Namestie Republiky metro station to buy a 24 hour metro pass and catching a train to Malostranska station. Caught bus number 23 up the hill to Prague Castle. Walked down to the castle entrance past Cernin Palace>, the Loreta and the Archbishop's Palace. Arrived at the castle entrance just before the Changing of the Guard at noon before going on a tour of the castle visiting St.Vitus Cathedral with its excellent views over Prague, All Sai...

Jewish Quarter

Got up at 7am and had breakfast before catching the metro to Staromestska station and walking to the Jewish Quarter. Toured the "open air museum" that was the Jewish Quarter visiting Pinkasova Synagogue and Old Jewish Cemetry before walking on to the Old-New Synagogue, Maisel Synagogue and Spanish synagogue. Caught the metro back to the hotel to get our day pack and have lunch at the nearby sandwich shop before walking to the main train station to catch the slow train to Karlstejn.

Excellent Staff

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed there 2/14/05 for 6 nights and I found the staff to be very efficient and helpful. Their concierge staff is exceptional and very knowledgeable. The only complaint I have was their ala carte breakfast at the restaurant ; the menu said bacon, eggs and potatoes but when I was served this $16 breakfast, it didn't come with potatoes - when I asked the waitress, she came back with tomatoes. Breakfast is unreasonably priced if you don't get it packaged with your room rate. Otherwise, dinner at the restaurant was good and fairly priced. It is located a few blocks from Old Town Square which could be a walk for an older person. Otherwise, it was good for us tourists! Yes, I would stay there again!

Great staff, great location.

from ooookch
This modern hotel is in a very good location close to the centre, just a short walk to the Old Town Square. The staff is professional (they reminded me of my stay in the place five years ago, which I had forgotten), extremely friendly and helpful. The standard rooms are not too big, but nice and convenient. Excellent breakfast buffet. The only little detail I didn't like so much is the small lobby area with the bar hidden under the stairs. I'll go there again when in Prague.

Fantastic hotel, Great Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this hotel for two nights in January and got the full five star service. From the moment that we were helped out of the car by the concierge, to the porter taking our bags up to our room to the time that we left, the service was excellent. I actually think that the cost of this hotel was very competitively priced for a five star - excellent value for money.

The hotel is situated 10 minute walk from the Old Town square and within a couple of minutes walk of the designer stores and shops. It is very centrally placed and all the major sites are within walking distance [although we did take a tour bus to the castle!].

The food at the hotel was of a very high quality - the buffet breakfast had absolutely everything on it that you could imagine; from fruit to cereal, yoghurts, breads and pastries, pancakes and waffles and a cooked breakfast. So do not stay Room Only at this hotel - you will be disappointed if you have not booked B&B in advance [the breakfast is priced at about 12 if you pay for it on the day, so sort it in advance] - you will be glad that you did!

Stay here in confidence of an excellent holiday.

A beautiful experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Marriott Prague in August for 3 nights. We enjoyed a wonderful buffet breakfast every morning that was included. The hotel dining room was excellent and the prices for food and beverage very reasonable. The rooms were large and very well furnished. It was a delightful stay. The staff were extremely helpful.

Modern Hotel Conviently Located to Old Town

from EaganTraveler
My family just returned from a 3 night stay (11/24-11/27) at the Prague Marriot. The hotel is located a short 5 minute walk from Old Town and has a metro stop located in the adjacent building. It is a typical western style hotel with large rooms and baths, comfortable beds and feather pillows. We were able to check into our room early with no delays. Only problem with the room is that the shower curtains do not stay in the tub and you need to place towels on the floor to keep things dry.

The Marriot hotel car service for a party of 4 is $860 K

While the room does not have a coffee maker, coffee and a wide selections of tea are available in the lobby from 6 - 9 am at no cost.

Concierge was very helpful but seemed to direct us to more up-scale restaurants when we wanted to experience more of the local flavor. Best breakfast was at Bohemian Bagel (eggs, pancakes, bacon and sausage plate)located 10 minutes from the hotel. Great food with cheap internet service.

I would definitely stay at the Marriot again.

Great location

from trippingJack
Arrived from Vienna - took a taxi from the railroad station but although warned of high rates, still paid too much. Only apparent way around this is to catch a subway train - assuming you're not hauling a lot of luggage.

Hotel's in a great location - everything is accessible by foot except the Castle. River is a short stroll.

Everything else you can reach by subway which is easy to use. Room was clean and comfortable - restaurant was pleasant for meals. If you need to shop for sundries/toiletries, the main railroad station is nearby (not the one I arrived at). They also have many restaurants.

Would stay here again.

Marriott Flies High!

from Banupa
We stayed in the Marriott for 3 nights in July 2004 and were impressed by the quality of the hotel and the courtesy of the staff. The Hotel is central for most tourist activities, with guided pedestrian, bus and boat tours within 5 minutes walk.

While we were there the hotel had a steak evening, which should not be missed. In fact the restaurant was so good and competitively priced, we ate in every night.

Take advantage of the hotel's Mercedes limo service from the airport. It is well worth the cost.

To summarise. The Marriott was of excellent quality in all areas, close to attractions, a cosmopolitan clientele and it is far better than it appears in photos on websites.

Wonderful hotel with a great location

from oyyveyy
We stayed at the Prague Marriott for three nights in August 2004. We travelled Europe for over a month with 3 small kids, and this was our favorite hotel. The room was much larger than any other room in Europe. The location was fantastic-easy walking to all major sightseeing. The concierge was extremely helpful with tours and restaurants. All staff went out of their way to help in whatever way we needed, and we are pretty high maintenance. The hotel also has an extensive spa and fitness facility, where I enjoyed a well-earned massage. And we were able to plug our lap-top into a high-speed DSL line right in our room, so my husband could actually work at night. I would definitely stay there again.

Prague Marriott

from 4fromCA
Stayed at the Prague Marriott for a full week begining of August. The hotel is well situated , only walking distance to all downtown tourist interests. We were really pleased with the service, cleanliness and efficiency.

Marriott was very good

from Rhudaur
The Prague Marriott is a very capable hotel that is nicely located at the nexus of Old & New Towns and the Jewish Quarter (Josefov), only a block from the subway and an easy walk to the Charles Bridge. It has a large and fairly modern workout facility and the Executive Lounge (if you have Marriott status) is a delight. The staff is friendly and most everyone speaks very good english. The rooms themselves are somewhat boring (they are what you would expect for business travelers in major capital cities) but they are large and comfortable -- as is the bathroom.A quiet 7 story hotel that is on a quiet street. It is across the street from the Marriott Renaissance hotel.
