Roohi was really excited to check in at the Marriott (using Akshay´s points), especially when Akshay managed to get a free upgrade to a suite! Woohooo! (Perks of all the PwC travel finally paying off). Chilled during the weekend, enjoying the hotel. Popped out in the evening to check out the Palermo area (both Soho & Hollywood). Not many people around and kind of dead - this is meant to be BA´s poshest area...Visited the Evita museum which was realy interesting especially due to the contr...
Buenos Aires, Argentina ashah_008Another lazy start to the day. Roamed around the antiques market in San Telmo. Looked like a load of junk - but one man´s junk is another´s treasure. Treated to more outdoor performances, jazz, tango, etc. Also saw the Russian Orthodox Church - which is the only one in south America - the architecture is pretty interesting - although could only see it from the outside. Looking for dinner was crazy as most restaurants are shut on Sundays - No indian food again! Stumbled upon this street called...

Buenos Aires, Argentina bruinryanPlan A: Take the Buquebus to Colonia, Uruguay Well, this turned out to be a complete and utter failure. After a quick breakfast at Havanna we took a cab to the Buquebus ferry terminal-less than five minutes from the hotel. We stood on a short line to buy our round-trip ferry tickets. Within five minutes we were told that they had ferries to Colonia, but all the return ferries were sold out. Seriously? In the middle of winter? It's a weekend getaway destination, who books a return on Saturday ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina choyt1427Buenos Dias from Buenos Aires! Well, that's what I should have said two weeks ago when I was actually in Argentina. Terribly sorry for the delay. I've already been yelled at by more than one person for not writing on a regular basis. I promise to be better. But, I had a friend on the road with me and any free time I had was actually spent doing stuff, and not sitting alone in a hotel room. So, without further ado, here's what happened in Buenos Aires... Erin and I left Santiago, Chile around...

... of a line around the stadium. The game had already started, but we needed to wait in a single file line. Eventually, they let us enter towards the stadium as the swat guards instructed us to be single file in Spanish, they held their clubs ready to combat anyone that did not listen. It was scarey. After being searched completely by the guards, we passed through two to three different points of security before getting into the stadium. After the last hurdle, the crowd burst into a ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina 90daywalkabout... He mentioned wanting to go to Canada one day to visit his friend, and we laughed about how travelers invariably end up seeing more of other countries than their own. We also commented on the severe lack of Spanish tourists around BA - the guy worked for Iberia airlines and noted that there are tons of direct flights from Madrid to BA, but was surprised at how few Spaniards he had seen here. So I'm not the only ...

Buenos Aires, Argentina stevage... days in November, so we were happy to see it. Hopefully this link will work and you will see and hear the great music, festive dance and colorful costumes. After a long day we all went back to our apartments to regroup before the next milonga at 10 p.m. tonight. Lynne, Katerina and I went to a milonga at Lo De Celio Tango. I cannot put into words the dancing that I was able to do tonight with these wonderful dancers. I have died and gone to ...
