Snowing for the Festivus (Seinfeld)

... Andy a couple of small thank-you gifts then he called and picked us up to return home to prepare for the Festivus. For most Aussies reading this we might not know but basically it is from a Seinfeld episode (neither os us had seen that episode in Aus). We actually watched it last night on DVD so we had an idea of what it was all about.
We all done a little spring cleaning in the afternoon and cleaned up the basement where the party was to take place ...

Washington DC to Philadelphia

... and the fact it wasn't allowed.

So from then on we had to make a move to fit everything in. 1st up was the Lincoln memorial. THe a jog for about 2kms to Arlington cemetry for some more pics.
Then it was a jog back to the Washington memorial. We actually got tix for this as we were there so early....Went up and snapped more pics before then running for the hotel and booking out to get the 12.00 bus back to Phili.

Statue of Liberty

... it rained too so at least we stayed dry in transit.

Got on the bus (www.boltbus.com) and headed to Philadelphia. The bus has a powerpoint and also WI-FI so we were able to check email etc. and I caught up on these......

Andrew (Linda's friend) picked us up and the station and gave us a quick tour on the way home.......already 1:30 am so time to sign off again.....Will upload pics soon.

Need to sort out a trip down to Washington DC tomorrow as time is short everywhere!!!

A Quick Trip to Philly

Just a quick one to say hi to all my mates from another US city of the revolution (a couple of hundred years ago) now the city of Brotherly Love & soft cheese ! Have spent a few days eating and drinking and catching up with Andy's former life / acquaintances etc - lots of rowing talk and seemingly collecting specimens for a stacked boat at Henley 2010. Back to London on Monday night and work shortly thereafter yeuck.

Donde esta Runnemede?

For the first time this tour, we had shows two days in a row in the same venue. The nice part about that is that you get one day where you don't have to tear down the set, and one where you don't have to build it. This truly is a blessing. I was excited that we were going to be playing Philadelphia for two days, because I had never been to the city before. However, it turned out that our hotel was not in Philly, but across the river in Jersey ...

Exploring Valley Forge

The ground memorialized at Valley Forge National Park is known mostly for the suffering that happened there one long, cold, snowy winter during the American Revolutionary War. The rehabilitation of the continental army's forces that followed that spring changed the course of the war and, oddly enough, restored the bedraggled soldiers. The establishment of the park was to set aside the land as a means of educating ...

Great new Product!

... open the cord and head on board. I managed to get at least 2 hours sleep. It really stabilizes your head unlike other travel pillows and the wrist straps makes a huge difference. I was in the middle seat which previously meant no armrests and fuming for the whole trip. No More! I really couldn't be more pleased. Well done Head-bac!

Browncoat Ball! - Friday

... with old friends, met some new ones and admired the outfits. MyOrangeHat showed up and cause a stir 'cause she's thrown the Philly Shindig and met a lot of Philly peeps. The Bedlam Bards played a few songs, and of course, we sang along when they sang "A Man They Called Jayne". Finally, Rhobyne and I were tired so we headed back to the hotel along with a couple of Browncoats. We caught a cab - no way were we walking! Off to bed...

The Big Apple

... go up the Empire State building and see the Satue of Liberty. We have a lift to Washington the day after tomorrow, all we have to do is split the cost of the gas. In Washington we're hopefully going to pick up a drive away car but we still haven't been able to get in contact with them yet, hopefully we'll be able to do this today. I would write more but there have been two power cuts since I started writing this and I keep losing all my work.
