We went on our evening walk to the supermarche to buy cocacola and had a pretty chill evening, even though there was a group hostel outing which allowed under 21s too, we didn't fancy going because the lady who was promoting it looked only marginally better than a "woman of the night" lol and if that was anything to go by I don't think we missed out on much. ... and paired with the amazing weather, it was one of the most tropical feeling places I had ever been to. I met up with Jenny, the English girl I had met in NYC. ... have to wait long and before we knew it - we were aboard the cruise ship and in our stateroom. We have an inside stateroom which is quite nice.

After checking out our room, I headed to the top deck to check out the port and take pictures. I know I've cruised out of Miami several times now but this port never ceases to amaze me. The port is simply beautiful - my favourite by far.

... effort to play his steel drums in time with his backing track but eventually gave up and just gave us some edited highlights from some Bob Marley songs he knew. Priceless :-) As we headed back up to Fort Lauderdale we made a final stop in Grassy Key to visit the Turtle Hospital. They are a non-profit organisation who have been nursing sick turtles back to health since the nineties. Their patients range from new born babies to fully grown adults of various species from. We awoke to freezing rain and from the window, what looked like a very slick parking lot. When we turned on the television and learned that area schools were closed, we congratulated ourselves for having taken the precaution of coming up early.

Getting to the airport in the hotel shuttle was a breeze. We took off and arrived in Miami on schedule and felt sun and air 50 degrees warmer than what we left. Our only hurdle was first, waiting ...
