New York City, New York, United States dali78I flew on an extremely delayed JetBlue flight. I sat at RDU for 6 hours. Whats worse is that Kelly was flying on a different flight out of Nashville. She was had to sit at JFK waiting on me! After the ordeal was over Jet Blue gave everyone on the flight a $50 off the next JetBlue ticket. So I guess Jet Blue thinks my time is only worth $8 an hour. Long story short, they've lost my business forever. Anyway, to happier memories. We stayed at the Marriott Marques right on Time Square! Awesome ho...
New York City, New York, United States jreevesI have only been to NYC on one trip that was many years ago. Certainly there is no wonder that this city is listed in the "1000 Places..." book. But for whatever reason, I didn't really like NYC that much; I don't know why. I have always loved big cities, and in America, they don't come any bigger or brighter. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis right on Times Square; I could look out our window and see that big screen with all the advertising lights. I think I got a good general overview of th...
New York City, New York, United States kitkatgoI'm not quite sure why the author listed "Historic Downtown" separately from "New York City", but whatever. [shrug] She mentions Wall Street and the Financial District which we walked around. This was a special interest for DH. It was fun to see though. She also mentions the World Trade Center (Twin Towers) which we were able to view many times from different areas. Same with the Statue of Liberty. At the time, seeing her was a huge highlight. Now of course (2-11-08), I think about seeing the...
New York City, New York, United States kitkatgoI'm afraid I don't have clear memories about Central Park, except that I think I was afraid of muggers. LOL :/ We did take a carriage ride around the park though, and it was beautiful.

New York City, New York, United States kitkatgoI was so excited to go to New York City with my fiance (now DH). We checked in at the Marriott Marquis on Times Square. Had lunch at the American Festival Cafe at Rockefeller Plaza. Walked around, saw Central Park. Was amazed at all the people and the hustle and bustle. It was definitely a city in motion. Loved all the lights at night. We had a killer view of Times Square from our hotel room window.
New York City, New York, United States kitkatgoWent on the Circle Line tour around Manhattan. It was great...loved seeing the Statue of Liberty, the Twin Towers, the whole island was amazing with its towering skyscrapers. It gave a really nice overview of the Big Apple. One thing I remember vividly though was that a little piece of metal fell off one of the bridges as we were passing under it and hit me in the face--fortunately it hit my sunglasses! Scared the **** out of me. Had lunch in there somewhere, I think at a place called Nadine'...
New York City, New York, United States kitkatgoToday we walked all over--from Wall Street to Seaport. Had lunch at The Fulton Street Cafe. Went shopping at the biggest Macy's I've ever seen. Took a buggy ride in Central Park, very romantic. :) Had dinner at the hotel...The View at the top of the Marriott Marquis, a revolving restaurant with an incredible view. I remember eating some really good mussels there. Saw Les Miserables on Broadwayat the Imperial Theatre. I have to say I didn't appreciate the storyline back then and was a bit bore...
New York City, New York, United States kitkatgoWe flew up to New York for a long weekend to explore the city. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis at Times Square, which was awesome. We mainly roamed around the city, visiting Times Square, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty (which we got to climb), the Empire State Building, and the World Trade Center. We saw two Broadway Plays, Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserable. To be honest, NYC was a little too big for my taste (probably the culture shock played in a bit as I'm used to southern c...
