Unbelievable hotel. Stayed on the 19th floor looking out the convention center area. Eased the heartbreak of being away from my family on Christmas.

We figured being in Missouri we needed to stop by Kansas City for some amazing BBQ since the city is known for it!! We stopped at.... We ordered 4 huge meals and shared between the four of us!! We don't think we could eat at another BBQ place again that is how good it was!! After this we drove to a town in the middle of no where (3 hours east of Denver) on I-70 West in Kansas State next to a town called Kanarado (we loved this name) and got a hotel to get some shut ...

... the hotel, we checked-in to the next and found an amazing noodle bar, a chain restaurant that sold every type of noodle from mac and cheese, pasta to Thai dishes. I had quite the lunch. We were planning on going to the museum again, but Jonathan watched the football and I went to the hotel gym. After making a plan for the next leg of the journey, Jonathan took me to the Cheesecake Factory- a restaurant that sells nice food and incredible cheese cake. I ate ...

So - what is in Kansas City you may ask? Charlie Parker's saxophone! We went to the Jazz museum on 18th and Vine Street, opposite the "Gem Theatre" and also saw the Jazz Walk of Fame. It was really cool to see a museum dedicated to Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington - the three greats from Kansas City. Of course Louis Armstrong also got a big mention. It was mainly a museum of Bebop. Luckily for Jonathan, ...

The Truman Museum was the first Presidential Library and Museum we have ever visited so were unsure what to expect. The grounds leading up to the structure - on a hill - are impressive. Not only does the complex house the museum and library, it houses a reconstructed Oval office as it would have looked during Truman's presidency, his office post his presidency, a decision centre and meeting rooms and the graves of Truman and his ...

The forecast low for tonight is 11 degrees. It is time to get away. Five Guys transportation picks me up at home for the thirty minute trip to the airport where I curbcheck my 50 pound suitcase for Southwest Airlines flight 772, non-stop from Kansas City to San Diego. I am on still another cruise: Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas from San Diego to Fort Lauderdale through the Panama Canal. My kids are all gone for Thanksgiving and, rather than ...
