I am officially on my way to New York City (currently over Michigan!) and the trip is going well so far. The seat next to me on the plane is open, which always a bonus, AND our travel agent gave me a little upgrade which never hurts J

After a couple of hectig months we sold our house,filled the POD (container) with all belongings we wanted to keep. Sold, donated and gave away the rest. The POD is in indefinite storage in Michigan giving us time to follow our dreams for a while. First on the agenda is a visit to my sister Yolanda and husband Laron in Washington DC.

... de onmoeting met Brad. Brad is een 15-jarige Springsteen fan en via BTX en tennis (lang verhaal) hebben we elkaar 'gevonden'. Hij woont ook in Detroit en zou dus ook naar de show komen. Het was erg leuk om hem eindelijk eens te ontmoeten.

De show was waanzinnig. Bruce moet alleen zijn topografie een beetje bijvijzelen. Hij was blijkbaar vergeten dat hij Ohio al weer verlaten had - want het duurde even voordat hij niet meer over Ohio maar over Michigan ...

I am still at home. Only one more week. Being away from my home for three weeks requires a lot of preparation. I even know the movie that are going to have on the Flight. I am tired already!! Since I will be on a plane for almost 24 hours, I am collecting all the necessary stuff needed to be comfortable.

Oh Detroit (or rather Detroit suburbia), how you have saved my Michigan experience!

I was already excited to travel to "Detroit" because I knew I was going to get to see Anne, my friend from grad school who I haven't seen since we both graduated. Then it just kept getting better and better. She managed to score us tickets to see her boyfriend's new show... and not just any show my friends... Evil Dead: The Musical!!!! I was so excited. We grabbed a quick dinner ...

Phew... Going through US Customs was a bit trying... No searching but a lot of questions meant - I supposed - to catch us with something bad... Who knows. We did not loose any meal. Longer day than expected but we grinded the flying condo to a halt. No problem other than a sticking lock on the propane door.

... the questions as best i could but i think that somewhere along the line, i started answering them in the wrong order. he was not impressed. however, after what seemed like an hour of him giving me the old stink eye, and me fighting the urge to salute him, he let us through. job done.

the rest of the day was split between trying to shut me up from dithering on about 'being an englishman, it shouldn't be allowed' and relaxing.
