... us some information about Edinburgh and Scotland in general and the itinerary for the next few days. We arrived around 5 and got into our hotel room of 4 single beds. It took us 15 minutes to walk into town to see the procession of the lights. It was pretty effective seeing 5000 candles lit and walking down the street, through the town and up the hill marking the beginning of the "20.14" celebrations. Missed bus home as we do and jim had had a couple of drinks so we got a taxi home.
arrive home and all the neighbours are here. oh dear.3am bed. not used to this. AND its Jims birthday today 3rd so guess its party tonight too

... at the Touchstone Maze, though, and this time we stopped long enough for us all to walk through it, soaking up the atmosphere of this amazing spot. Not only do the stones come from different parts of Scotland, but they are from different geological eras too, dating back to the Jurassic period and beyond, which was more than just a little overwhelming.

After Linda's lovely Kedgeree dinner on Friday night (plus a bit too much alcohol), Sandy and I spent Saturday wandering the streets of Edinburgh. We got to catch up with Matty Pugh, a friend from Aus, who is living in London. He had come up for Hogmanay with a heap of kiwis and a guy from Wales. We caught up with Matty at the Three Sisters in the Old Town the night we arrived then headed to bed for a relatively early night in preparation for New Years!
