Edinburgh - Dunfermline, Stirling and Roslyn

A travel blog entry by debrahuntley on Sep 17, 2013

Went on another day tour today, and this was much better than the previous one. The tour guide was very good, a master story-teller who is very passionate about his Scottish history . Also the weather was really good. I guess this made the places visited better. First stop was Dunfermline Abbey, the burial place of many kings and queens. Lots of stories about the Scottish hero Robert the Bruce. Incredible how when they discovered his remains 200 ...

Luckily the weather was great, cool and windy but dry and sunny glimpses. We managed a long tour thru the Palace of Holyroodhouse, saw the 1pm gun go off at Edinburgh Castle, had lunch at ...

With Kate's navigation skills and a lot of questioning about where to go, we eventually found the Art Roch Hostel in the strange city. There is so much to take in around Edinburgh, but most impressive of all would have to be Edinburgh Castle. Our hostel is ...

... north towards the Forth Rd Bridge and the M90. The traffic was steady as we crossed the bridge. Unfortunately the clouds were low and we were not given the amazing views that we know you get in clear sunshine. The M90 was speed restricted to 40mph for most of the time we were on it due to roadworks, but it didn't cause any major problems. With Loch Leven in sight we turned off the motorway towards Milnathort and Gallowhill Farm. It had been an easy journey as we ...
