We had a good chat and they invited me to come stay on their farm if I ever get to California again! They even gave me a bag of pistachio nuts for my travels from around their area - how nice! So today I decided to go visit Lincoln park zoo! Had my coffee at Red June and then walked down to the bus stop and caught the bus to the zoo. ...

... a bit of a disaster because it broke down and Dave had to walk back down the Magnificent Mile (was actually 7/8ths of a mile and it didn't feel that magnificent in 95 degrees, jeans cowboy boots and a Stetson) Midnight Cowboy eat your heart out, unlike John Voight Dave was not propositioned 3 times but he did look flushed when he reached the rendezvous at the start of Route 66. ...

... Got straight on the open top bus tour and we were all 'blown' away by the Windy City. Chicago is massive and my kind of town. A sunny afternoon made it feel a whole lot nicer place to see than New York City and we all agreed that this was a place we will return to. Walked along Navy Pier and had a meal at Harry Carey's. very good especially the cookie sundae that Dave was forced to share with the sisters. We boarded the evening city tour bus and saw plenty of celebs ...
