Wow, what a day we had in Petra yesterday. Words here will not do it justice. We took over 250 photos in the seven hours we spent there. We were awestruck more times than I can ever remember being awestruck and we had a day with memories that will last a lifetime. We are only attaching a few of the photos we took here but we'll share more with any of you when we're home. I think we're going to try to host an Arab feast and we'll share more then! Petra is a very large site...it is a series of ...
Amman, Jordan kevinandstephneAfter traveling throughout the Middle East on business trips over the past few years, I highly recommend Jordan for first-timers. It's certainly different than the Western World, but the people and culture are very Western friendly...therefore making it an easy location for those who haven't traveled throughout Muslim countries before. Despite it's neighboring countries, you can peacefully float in the Dead Sea without a care in the world...you would never know there was unrest only a few hun...
Amman, Jordan mcboc285Saturday: I think I may have left off telling you about the Dead Sea, if I am wrong then I apologize in advance for the repetition. After a 4 hr. drive through arid countryside and rubble-filled towns (I swear, half the time I can't determine whether the buildings are in a state of decay or construction and it's like that everywhere), I arrived at my resort at the Dead Sea in the afternoon, in time for a late lunch. After a week of strictly Arabic food I was dying for a hamburger & fries ...

... by to say hi. I probably chilled there for about an hour and then hiked my falafel ass home. A nice thing about the walk home...even though I have to walk on the side of a busy road past dozens of shababing construction workers, inhaling exhaust and actively feeling my face break out...is that there are a ton of women cops here. I mean they are directing traffic so I am not claiming to know anything about the gender breakdown of the shorta hierarchy, but ...

Minus the fact that I was probably behaving about 50/50 foolish/passed out I managed to successfully eat something AND brush my teeth (it's the little things) before conking out like a rock. <br><br>Friday: <br>The Saturday story doesn't end there of course because I woke up hanging a bit and still had to get up and go with Jess and meet Yoichi at the Friday flea market. Sure I ...

(3) Arabic or Turkish Coffee is consistently an after dinner treat here which is odd to me but helps me hang with the best of them since everyone stays up so late munching on goodies. <br><br>---<br><br>Monday:<br><br>Inste ad of going to the office I went to the Jordan Valley Authority building for a presentation by my boss. I don’t know if this the Jordanian way or just ...
Amman, Jordan justajaunt... much of the service work that includes cleaning buildings like gyms, as well as people's personal homes, are women from the Philippines, and (3) although it was not dark enough to confuse a white string for a black string by the time we left it was clear to me that it was time to break fast because a platter of dates met us on the way out and people were already gorging themselves at the cafe. <br><br>After the gym we headed to get food at a well-known ...

He said no, that he would lose his citizenship and therefore would be a citizen of no country! <br><br> <br><br>And it’s not just the government that doesn’t approve of it, but many families. The younger generation is definitely more open and doesn’t care, but their parents and grandparents have a lot of influence over their lives ...

And as Henry later pointed out, there really weren't very many women around at all (though more than in Nepal). <br><br>Along the Balad there was one spot with a big digital scale and height reader. For half a dinar you could weigh yourself. With my jeans and t-shirt on I was 99.2 Kg, or 218.7 pounds. I'm definitely up from the end of the Annapurna Circuit, but down from when I left the States, especially since the jeans ...
Amman, Jordan jimmyandkristen... at our destination. He spoke of his country with pride and how he wanted the world to know what a kind and beautiful place Jordan was. He had no agenda. He was just terribly kind, to the point where when I enquired about his two HUGE water melons which were keeping me company in the back seat, he insisted that we take one. The fact that they were approximately 0.5m x 0.3m in volume, meant the gesture could not be received without serious injury being sustained, so we reluctantly and ...
