The Worst 4 Star Ever
This hotel has been the worst with customer service ever. I had to confirm my reservations 3 times and when I got to the hotel they were still incorrect! Nobody answers the phone at the frontdesk and when the do the mumble something and then transfer you or put you on hold before you speak again. The Bellman brought my shoes to my room at 11pm! With even calling first! That is just the start and I have three more nights here to stay unfortunatley!! Avoid this one at all costs!!

Valet/luggage attendant was pushy and would not take no for an answer after we had told them no 4 times. Stayed here for $55 off priceline it was definately worth that. Bathrooms and bedding are great. Regular rooms are small. Pool area is so small you can get splashed no matter where you sit. Would not rate this 4 star.
Most Polite Staff Award!
We reserved four rooms at the hotel for the NCAA Wrestling Tournament, March 17-March 20, 2004. You will not find a friendlier, more accommodating staff anywhere. Every staff member encountered (valets, luggage handlers, front desk staff, housekeeping, fitness center staff, restaurant staff, maintenance, etc) offered assistance or at the very least a smile and warm greeting. Hotel was very clean and rooms/bathrooms were spacious. Easy access to Metrolink and local attractions.
Enjoyed a quick one-night stay at the Renaissance Grand in St. Louis.
This hotel is part of the development explosion on the north edge of downtown St. Louis, centered around the convention center and football stadium. It's become a happening place -- years back when I lived in St. Louis, Washington Avenue was nothing but a couple of verrry cutting-edge nightclubs and loft space for the adventurous renovator.
It's become trendy now. But about the hotel ... Renaissance took the vacant Statler hotel, very run-down but full of promise, and made it live up to that promise. Rooms either face outward, with city views, or inward, with a view of the center corridor (i.e., of nothing). The premium for the view is apparently $70/night -- you make the call. At $89/night, the viewless room we had was more than acceptable. It was rather strangely shaped (probably an old room), and well-appointed. The bed was fabulous, one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. (The mattress tag says it was made by Ackerman Mfg. of St. Louis -- I'd never heard of them.) The common space was attractive, they have a very comfy bar, and a restaurant is forthcoming -- it has, no joke, a Wedgewood ceiling. The staff seem to understand that there's lots of competition (Mayfair next door, Westin and Adam's Mark down the street, Hilton coming soon) in the immediate area, so they stay on their toes.
They lose a few brownie points on some details, e.g. the clock radio tuning dial was busted, and there was no Kleenex anywhere in the room.
Note also that they offer free high-speed Internet access, but you need a network adapter on your laptop. For conventioneers and Rams fans, this is an excellent choice, and for pub crawlers, its location between the Landing and Washington Avenue is second to none.
The entire hotel experience was incredible. Upon placing my price for priceline, I had no idea where they would put me. Ten seconds later and 60 dollars a night a was placed in an unbelievable hotel. Huge rooms, Nice bathrooms and the towels were very thick. To top off my stay, their buffet breakfast was great. Absolutely recommend this hotel even if you have to pay more.
We really liked this Hotel
Convenient location. We had a 2 room suite with a kitchen on the 22 floor with an excellent view. The room was fantastic and very clean.
Two tv's and a double entrance to the bathroom. Guest services were prompt in responding to request, although housekeeping was suppose to make up our hideway bed while we were out on the town. They did not, hence only the above average rating. I did enjoy the friendly lobby bar. Paid $80 on Priceline. We would stay there again.
Very nice hotel
We stayed at this hotel for one night on August 9th, via a Priceline bid for $55.00 per night. Everyone was very nice and courteous and the hotel is lovely. We had a very nice room, very comfortable bed and pillows. We had a HUGE bathroom, but it was very basic. My only suggestion would be that with a bathroom that size, they could have done something really special like add a separate shower stall like in the rooms at the Westin in St. Louis. But, we would definitely stay here again, even at regular rates.
Perfect In Every Way!!!!
We stayed at this hotel for one night on Aug 9th. Every staff member we encountered was great including the valet parking attendants. Check in took less than one minute, and what made it even better if that is possible is that fact that we got a wonderful, quiet, clean, luxurious room on the 16th floor for $65.00 through Priceline. Our stay could not have been any better.
Our family stayed at The Renaissance Grand hotel for one night - June 7th. It is ranked as a 4 star hotel and it should be even higher.Everyone from the valet employees to the room service staff, were fantastic.I've travel to many many hotels in my lifetime and this is one of the finest if not THE finest hotel.To beat all, the list price on the hotel was $129 but via Priceline the day before - we stayed here for $65!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful rooms, accomodating staff, great lobby bar, convenient location, and a reasonable rate - what's not to like?
The hotel is great. Suites are very well appointed, walls feature local artists and photographers, doormen and
valets are friendly, and we took up with the bartender in a big way. I have no idea what the rooms normally run (we got ours for $55 (!!!) through priceline), but if they're under $150 they're very fairly priced. They're certainly on a par with the W, though far less trendy. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it for a weekend getaway or for out of town guests.

There is no real class system here. It is refreshing in some ways, but I find it very difficult to talk to Judges here as our system is instilled in me.
