Vilnius to Warsaw

A travel blog entry by draak777

It was great sleep at the Europa Royale Hotel. Our windows were over the cramped parking area and it was amusing to watch the antics of people trying to get in and out. Breakfast was fantastic. Pancakes with ricotta and a hint of honey. Yummy. And lots of other options. We didn't have much time to walk around Vilnius. Our was bus would leave in the …

The Beginning

A travel blog entry by mmoonan

A trip must have a beginning, and this was ours:

Bernie drove us to the airport; we arrived three hours early. It’s our little way of squeezing every minute out of our vacations. We checked ourselves through security and made our way to the gate (why is it always such a hike from security checkpoint to the gate?) and waited for our 7 …

One day in Warsaw

A travel blog entry by ruthbarz

We decided to spend one day in Warsaw before our flight home. We stayed at the Marriott which was in a perfect location for what we wanted to do. In the morning we walked about 15 minutes to Lazienki Park and the botanical gardens next door. It was a really pretty area to walk around. We saw the Lazienki Palace which was pretty, and right around it …

Touring the City with Alex

A travel blog entry by abbyandmorry

Happy birthday Kenny! I don't know how this day is going to read because everything I wrote for the past two hours is completely gone.  I don't know what this stupid program did, but it just lost everything. Ugh.  We came back from dinner and when I went to continue with today's entry, it crashed and lost everything.  I don't know whether to smash …

Crossing the streets of Warsaw-no picnic

A travel blog entry by abbyandmorry

Oh my.  We just made it to the train to learn that the first class ticket that we bought was not the "right" first class ticket for the cabin with 4 seats.  We are in a cabin with 6 seats, after having moved all nine bags out of the wrong cabin we had moved into.  We are hoping that no one comes to take the two extra seats here in which we have …

    Excellent Hotel

This is the original and still the best western hotel to stay whilst in Warsaw.

Usually it is so expensive, but occasionally it offers rates that you can justify against the Holiday Inn across the street.

Rooms are big, along with the bed and the bathroom, now they are refitted, are righ t up to date.

    Exremely Satisfied With Hotel

We arrived in Warsaw during an abnormal heat wave in late May and had alot of outside exscursions planned, so the wonderful comforts of this great hotel were really appreciated. When we arrived the front desk staff was freindly and very very pleasant. They advised us our room was ready even though we arrived at only 10 AM. They also advised us of an "room upgrade" if we were intrested that included a free buffet breakfast, free pay TV, and a corner Junior Suite for only 45 Euro's more. The Junior Suite room was very very large by european standards and even very nice by American standards. Our bathroom was amazing! With a seperate tub and shower stall, the whole bathroom was done in tiles and black marble, with four huge window panes that looked out over the wonderful skyline on the beautiful and busy city of Warsaw. You could actually sit in the bathtub and look out over the city as you bathed, and terry cloth robes were included in the junior suite. We passed the open doors of other rooms on the 31st floor that were not suites and they all looked about the same, although I don't think the bathrooms had the windows in the regular rooms, but the standards of the room were still superior. The bed was king sized and had wonderfully soft down pillows and TWO down filled comforters, making the bed pillowy soft and comfortable. The hotel staff always smiled and even the maids in the hallways greeted us with a Polish "Good Morning" as we passed them on our way out everyday. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Fresh made waffels and omlettes while you wait, along with fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheese and rolls. The pool area was outstanding too. An indoor slightly heated pool cooled us off after a day of hot sweaty touring the city, and the two hot tubs relaxed our weary bodies in the evenings. There is a great sports bar on site, a casino, and several other different restaurants in the hotel to try out. I am from the U.S. and have lived in Europe now for a few years and have become accustomed to both the European type hotels as well as the American hotels, and this hotel is a great mix of both!! We'd definately stay here again, and think this kind of hotel experience sets the mood for a PERFECT holiday in Warsaw!!

    Marriott's Best Kept Secret

This is definitely the Marriot to stay at in Europe. An absolutely wonderful hotel with breath taking views of the city from your room. (Request the highest floor possible) The staff was great and very helpful. The rooms are very nice and well kept. Awesome breakfast buffet with a friendly staff. The hotel is in a convenient location for business and/or tourism. The best thing about this 5 star hotel is the 2 star price. Take advantage of staying in Warsaw now before the prices quadruple like they did in Prague. We have stayed at the Marriot's in Prague, Berlin, Athens and Munich but this one in Warsaw is leeps and bounds above the rest for 3 X less!!!!!!!! This hotel will make you fall in love with Poland.

    Great location from train station

This hotel has all the amenities you would expect from an American hotel and is perfect if you are arriving by train because it's just across the street! It can be accessed by crossing the street underground from the train station. The gym is better than average too. I was there are Easter and they had an excellent buffet. I ate at the Italian restaurant twice which was also nice.

Great brand, nice views, horrible bathrooms

We stayed at the Warsaw Marriott for five nights and at first were wowed by the spectacular bilevel, marble and glass lobby and friendly staff, but when we got to our rooms, we were shocked by the bathrooms! They were little more than the size of an airplane lavatory with a curtainless shower! In place of a curtain, there was a glass door that span only half of the length of the bath, leaving lots of room for water to fly around the tiny bathroom. Any clothes that you hang on the back of the door will assuredly be soaked by the end of your shower, as well as all of the floor.

    Excellent hotel...

I stayed here in Feb 2005. I got a good deal over expedia (79EURO/night). Literally opposite the Central station for those who want to travel further than Warsaw or are arriving by train. If arriving from the airport then the Marriott offers a shuttle service for 12EURO for a cab, cheaper for the mini-bus. It has standard satellite TV and internet access. Buffet breakfast was brilliant with more than enough choice for even the most fussy of eaters. Staff are all friendly. There is a cash machine in the lobby and a Casino and Restaurant as well as the sports bar for those who don't want to miss the big games. Also the top floor bar with excellent views. However I would not recommend drinking here if you're on a budget. Warsaw at time of this review is unbelievably cheap for drinking and eating.

    Excellent hotel

I stayed at the Warsaw Marriott for 5 nights in Oct 2003. I've been waiting for tripadvisor to open a page for Poland - glad to see it happened. Though my stay was a year ago, I remember enough to say that it was one of the best stays I've had at any hotel. I was on the club floor which was closed at the time for painting. I don't recall which floor I was on, but it was quite high and the view was great. The room was modern and very comfortable, and the bathroom was great. I'd have to agree with one of the other reviewers who mentioned the breakfast. Having traveled extensively across Europe, I'm quite used to their version of breakfast. The Marriott's breakfast buffet was outstanding! The cold platters of fish/sausage/cheese were great. Ironically I ate dinner one night in the same restaurant where breakfast is served. That meal was quite unspectacular. I also had another dinner in their Italian restaurant which was better, though still nowhere near as impressive as the breakfast spread. The hotel staff was quite efficient and friendly. I didn't use the pool, but the fitness center was likewise one of the best I've used. I can't think of any negative comments about this hotel. I would second what someone else wrote that the train station area across the street is not a good place to hang around. During the day I wasn't concerned, but I most definately would want to plan some other form of transportation for late night situations. Finally, while I had no problem flying into the Warsaw airport, my departure was a scene from hell. The check in hall was nothing but chaos as long lines snaked everywhere without one really knowing to where they led. No airport personal were anywhere to be seen to seek help. Maybe I just flew out on a bad day, but I would recommend giving yourself some extra time at this place.

    Worth the expense

Pulled into the main railroad station across from the Warsaw Marriott around 10 PM after a slow and long ride (sandwiches free) from Prague.

Loved the view and the breakfasts.

Very nice hotel. Stayed on 22nd Floor with views of Palace of Culture. Health Suite and Pool were excellent and Gym was enourmous. The Breakfasts were very nice and there was almost everything you could want available. The staff were very professional and courteous. Would recommend and definetely stay there again.

    Great experience!

I spent three nights there, and I was really impressed. I was picked up at the aiport by a shuttle transfer service costing 22PLN provided by the hotel to guests. Staff is very professional, and English is spoken everywhere. They provide a well-equipped fitness studio, sauna, steam bath, massage, whirlpool and a swimming pool (all indoor). Pool area is even supervised by a lifeguard. All facilities are clean and well-maintained. Breakfast is unbelievably delicious, and offers a huge selection. This breakfast was the best I've ever had. First you have breakfast, and thereafter you must go to the fitness area to keep your weight. Maid service was very dedicated and thorough. I've loved this house! I honestly recommend it!
