Spent 2 days in Yangshuo, 1 night in Xingping, and 2 night in Guilin, before taking the train to Nanning; and then the sleeper train from Nanning to Hanoi. Great Hostel - Yangshuo 11 - with fantastic views forms it's roof. Swam in the Li River and visited the markets. Took the bus to Xingping - a smaller, less touristy village upstream on the Li River. Explored the farming village across the river by ferry. Guilin was big and bustling, but not half as bad as ...

The steps are worth the effort as you get to the middle you see more waterfalls. At ...

That, coupled with no toilet paper, no soap, the awful stench of urine and feces in and around the ...

We popped in a little bakery and got a cake to share it was delicious and so sweet, and then went through a huge park, there were hundreds of scooter parked up and loads of people socializing as it is Saturday. There were ...

... up. It's surreal as while we stood there it was pretty much silent even though there is so much traffic and as many if not more scooters as in Hanoi. The taxi dropped us at
the hotel, the room is pleasant and I fell a sleep straight away shattered from the journey. Later in the evening we wandered one street down and found a noodle place, they were delicious but made me laugh as it was served in a metal bowl on a plastic tray, made me think of prison food.
