... town. Next we visited the Faberge museum and this was fantastic. We had a girl from Russia explain the collection. It all belongs to a wealthy Russian (VERY wealthy) And he houses it in Baden Baden because it is more secure there. I cannot imagine what it all would be worth. Unfortunately we could not take any photos. Had another hour or two in the thermal spa then relaxed dinner at an Italian restaurant. Love ...

The "Sheep" crack is cheap. But how often do you get to put Baaaaaaa in a destination slot?

Anyway - it was a "use the car" day again as it is all paid for. So, we hit the bricks in search of Baden-Baden or Bath - Bath, a reference to the bathing spas there. I will get James and Joan to send me a synopsis of the event as they partook of the spas while Shelly and I strolled the cobblestones of downtown Baden-Baden.

31st July- We awoke to find ourselves in the town of Mainz, where the Rhine and Main Rivers meet. Highlight of the walking tour was the Gutenberg Museum where the development of the printing press was explained. Also how the terms "upper" and "lower" case originated. After a bit of shopping and a coffee we were back on the ship. That afternoon we were bussed to Heidelberg as the boats cannot get through the weir. Walked around town ...

... on the opposite river bank. I would love to have taken a tour of it. It was interesting to note that in its shadow, on the riverbank was a collection of small tents of what I assume was a homeless encampment. Quite a contrast and a good metaphor for the troubles of the European Union!

We also saw lots of storks perching on roofs as we left town and later saw many in a field, on church roofs and a hilarious ...
