So one of the places I wanted to go on my first day in Reims was the Palais du Tau which is museum attached to the Notre Dame where all the Kings of France were crowned. I was really excited to go cuz I thought they'd have some really neat stuff. Unfortunately, it was closed since it was All Saint’s Day. So, I got up early this morning and went to see it out before I had to check out of the hotel.

... s probably gone off by now. We wandered down the main shopping street which had the necessities - butcher, baker, chocolate shop, bar...... Sadly, being Sunday, we didn't get an opportunity to purchase the local chocolate specialty. Our lunch was provided by the local brass band, and we ate it in the 'Pilgrim's Room' at the hospital adjacent to the cathedral. The room is in the style of the cathedral with a magnificent vault. ... t it, and it would have been but for the road works, and the diversions in place. Want to bugger up a GPS.....don't go where it wants you to go. Every time we tried to get around the diversions the GPS had us doing u-turns, hook turns, 360's in round-a-abouts, completed lost its marbles. So, as we had no idea how to get around the road blocks ourselves, we gave up, set coordinates for home....and went to the pub for dinner! Now the night ...

... route of my GPS, I can get around on back roads pretty well. The only hiccup of the day was when I got confused when navigating a retarded intersection, where I could not figure out which lane I was supposed to be in to go straight. Some of the intersections here can get a little complicated, and I have been through roundabouts with five roads attached! Champagne Friday 15th July 2011. Trip Adviser told us that our hosts Annette and Phillippe were wonderful chefs and recommended that we have at least one meal cooked by them. We did that last night. What a gourmet feast it was.
