... to walk a reasonable distance to the lot where they parked their cars. Even finding the car was easy. BUT trying to work out how to start the car and then how to use the GPS took quite some time!!! We were given a Lexus Hybrid which looked very smart and had a built in GPS. One does not need a key to start this car, just a press of the button - yes? NO! After trying foot on brakes, foot off brakes, foot brake on, foot brake off ... we finally got the car ...

... s parents had once again prepared dinner with wine pairings and a delicious cake for my birthday. So incredibly generous and accommodating, they even learnt happy birthday in English. We are so extremely lucky to have a friend like François, who was willing to invite us into his home and give us a taste of real French culture. ... have played dodgem cars! Yes, the walnuts were on a monorail, but if you pedalled fast enough you could come up behind the person in front and give them a gentle nudge. les wouldn't let me do that to the people in front of us though - sadly, they kept stopping to look at the view and Les kept making me slow down. But it was fun when we were on a straight patch of line and I could peddle flat out!

... and it was easy to feel like you could step back in history. The kitchens in particular - although not furnished - had that history feel about them - so easy to imagine people working there and going about their daily lives.

We also discovered that in the grounds was an actual farm, which I am not sure was either a reconstruction of the original or a restoration based on what was left. Not that it mattered - we had fun looking around and ...

... WWI and saw photos of soldiers which were projected up on the memorial wall. Waltzing Mathilda and Still Call Australia Home were played and I got the feeling that people wanted to sing along but weren't sure whether or not it was appropriate.

The service went for an hour and was broadcast in Australia by the ABC. It was lovely. THe Collegiate and Hutchins choir did a lovely job as did the lady from the Army who sang many of the ...
