    Amazing modern hotel

The décor is in shades of blue and green and orange and pink. The main floor has the huge buffet area, a swing set, a beach bed, billiards table in pink, the only bar, and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the gigantic pool. The ceiling is 20' high, and there is a huge floor to ceiling bookcase in the center of the room, with a ladder to get to the books. Also a computer center. In the rooms, one of the guys pointed out the headboards are old pallets. In fact, all the furniture looks like it's put together from scrap lumber. And the room is huge and tiled with 2 twin beds and another twin made up as a divan. The hotel is 125' above the sea, and there is an elevator to take you down (and back up).

Oh, what wonderful Mediterrean decor. Beautifully appointed rooms with colorful walls and cabinetry. The bathroom has a double sink which is especially appreciated by two women sharing a room. And there is a clothes line in the bathroom - so thoughtful.
I'm tempted to blow off the rest of my vacation and just stay here for the next week. Alas, that is not possible, but I will be back...

What more one ask for, rooms with a funky style all of their own, excellent facilities, lovely food and a gorgeous surrounds.
The Marmara has it all including a lift that plunges 6 floors beneath the wart to deliver you to a tunnel that leads to the sea and a lovely rocky platform for relaxing in the sun or taking a dip in the clear blue waters.

    Sun 25 May, Aphrodisias

We drive to Aphrodisias, site of the temple of Aphrodite. The site is beautiful, in the country side with many of the columns still standing, and no crowds. I visited a photographer's shop. He had pictures of some of the statues, and photos of the village that had been on the site. People were living among the ruins …

... had theatre tickets, reusable and made of clay. Side had a very touristy atmosphere and yet more roman ruins, only just being restored. The sea views and what they call beaches, the lanes full of shops and restaurants, and yes, some lovely pistachio ice cream... On our return, we were ready for another swim. We then headed for the old city centre for dinner. It was a lovely atmosphere at night, with beautiful food yet again. It is really ************* ...

School tournament was behind me and now is the time for university level tournament. My very first was the world championship hosted by Koc University in Antalya, Turkey.

This town might not have the fame of Istanbul, but it is set in a beautiful seaside setting. Much more peaceful and nicer to walk around. As usual, we spent 90% of our time here debating in the hotel venue. But we did get to see the city for a bit and visit Istanbul before we went back ...
