Here I tried my first Egyptian cocktail - a mojito that came out bright green with a clown decorated toothpick, curled lime wedge and stalk of droppy mint. The boat guide went around asking everyone where they were from (he could speak Russian and English as well, so did his talk in 3 languages). When we said NZ, he had no idea where that was and then asked us if we spoke English! Not sure what language he thought we were communicating in while we had this conversation, maybe our accents ...

... felafel kebab and then headed to the hotel's private beach. The hotel is actually 300m back from the beach so you have to walk 2 blocks over. The sun was going down but it was still 33 degrees according to the thermometre behind the towel pick up. A quick dip in the very salty sea, tried out the sun loungers and declined the staff attempting to sell us camel rides somewhere.
Dinner was at a seafood restaurant but suffice to say the standards are very different ...
