A sad, sad day! We were up with the larks this morning as it was finally time to leave the Peppers and head to the South Island. We left the amazing Black Barn lodges at about 7:30am and made good time to the Wellington ferry terminal where we took the 2:05pm sailing on the ship "Aratere" over to Picton. From holidays to work
... met in Auckland. But in the morning I had to get up early again to catch my bus to the Ferry to Picton on the South Island, so we were not able to talk much.
My journey on the big ferry was nice :) The best thing was the time while we went through the Queen Carlotte Sound on the South Island. That was about one and half hour until we got to the harbor. I took so many photos again. The best are on the bottom of this entry ;) Maybe you can imagine how I felt on the water ...

The trip to Hanmer was very windy roads with beautiful scenes of the sea lapping on the shore and the mountains which changed with differnet characters the further in we drove. I never realised just how mountainous New Zealand was. It's like they hug you in the road as you drive through them making you feel so secure and cozy but in ore of such magnificent natural beauty. ... with a nice view of the city until the ferry at 6:25 took us across to Picton on the South Island. The ferry ride was fairly calm but it rained for most of it and was dark by the time we got to Picton so only a few nice views of Wellington. Stayed at a really nice hostel in Picton before we head down the east coast of the South Island starting ...
