... a gradient of 25%. Both these hills were very narrow with just enough room for two cars. We continued on and eventually found our hotel,after wending our way round Ilfracombe. The hotel is pretty cheerless but only for two nights. We walked down into town to find a meal, the weather is pretty miserable but we have been so lucky so far and tomorrow promises to be ...

... itinerary, however the Trans-Mongolian tickets book up fast so I need to have that bit in the bag. Most of my vaccinations are up to date after yearly travel clinic visits but I do need to get a yellow fever jab. Is yellow fever a bad thing? Who knows? Apparently having the certificate is A Good Thing though, so it'll get done. And then there's the paperwork. The Russians appear to have taken exception to the new British rule ...

... exit into the sea. This is a bay only accessible by walking. The remains of an old lime kiln are still there above the beach. Retracing our steps back to a branch in the track, we headed uphill on a steep path onto the Coastal Path. ... amp; out & about that I have felt truly warm.
We set off tonight to see & hear The Dowlais Male Choir, only to find there was no practice tonight as they had sung at the Mayor's (a former choir member) inauguration. However they were getting a group photo taken, so we at least saw them & had a chat with a few of them. Maybe one day we will get to hear them sing, but unfortunately not on this trip. ...

... station and we went back for a lovely lunch. sue had made a delish butternut, lentil and mushroom dish. We had a walk in the afternoon and called in to see Loenna's new guineapigs -Toffee and Midnight. The family turned up later for tea and snacks. Sam and Olly busy with school and college.
