... our GPS get its bearings we headed to Brugge.
Arriving late in the afternoon we checked in at the Ibis (not the best hotel, but it was cheap considering the cost of other hotels). This hotel is located right in the centre of the old town.
Brugge is a step back in time. The old cobbled stone roads, the horse and carts, and the pretty old buildings. The main form of transport in Brugge ...
... One in particular also lives in Koeln and we sometimes ride the train together. Hopefully next weekend we will visit the Christmas markets together.
Which brings me to the Christmas markets! Oh what a site! I've seen them before, but I feel like the ones in Cologne are particularly wonderful! There are several of them, all with different characters and enclosed in different squares around the city. My favorite looks like it comes straight out of a fairy tale ...
New York, meine neue Liebe!
Jetzt, mit mehr Zeit und Muse widme ich mich dem langersehnten Lebenszeichen. :)
Viel Spaß beim lesen!
... Katie and I both agreed that a honeymoon in Cinque Terre would be complete idiocy, because no one could possibly be overcome with love and passion enough to be congruent with the scenery. Any attempt would just be a let down!
After three wonderful days in Cinque Terre, Katie and I headed out of Eden and into Pisa. After the fairy book beauty of Cinque Terre, Pisa's semi-seediness was a little refreshing. Peddlers lined the street, selling ...
... A massive and imposing church which is Germanys most visited attraction. We are starting to feel like once you’ve seen one church you have seen them all because every town and city has a church of various magnificence and size but The Dom cannot be ignored and forces you to stare upon its greatness. It was started in the 13th century and took over 600 years to be completed so you can only imagine! It was nearly destroyed during WWII but some believe it was saved ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany ktchris... We went to see Titisee the following day which was about 30 minutes away by train. The ride there was really nice- we got to see the dense forest and rolling hills. It is now really cold. The girl in our hostel kept asking us why we would come to Germany in the winter. We had planned to do a big walk but started out on one and then decided that we had walked far enough and headed back to Freiburg. It is a nice town with a canal and a university. We had a look ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany steveandwhitneyStraight from finishing work with COLT, I went to V festival. No pics, and you can get stories directly, but I then flew straight out on Monday to meet Philip, Lawrence and Elias in Germany to catch up on Philip's stag do. The plan is a week-long tour through Epernay & Reims France (I missed that bit), Köln, Kerpen, Nürberg etc through ...
Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany danielringroseYeah..turned out Koln and Koblenz were different places 100km apart...whoops..anyway..I went into the ticket office and asked how to get to Munich for 23.45 (when my train for Zagreb left), he told me that I would have to take a train to Mannheim, then jump aboard the train that was going to Munich- in essence intercepting the train I should have taken. My train was due to arrive in Mannheim at 19.21, the train to Munich ...
Koblenz, Germany englishanddrunk... these relics and the work on it probably began during the tenure of his successor, about 1190. A goldsmith from Verdun was presumably quite involved in making this exemplary work, which was only finished in 1225. The famous relics drew the faithful from all of Europe and the Cologne Pilgrimage became one of the largest of the Middle Ages. For this reason, the Cathedral Chapter decided in 1248 to build a new structure suitable for such an important cathedral and pilgrimage church ...
