Today we went to Bremen (Mason, Shawn, Steven, Soth, Dave and I). We took the 9:20 train from Braunschweig but 2 of the guys didn't make that one so we waited in Hannover for an hour for them to catch up on the next train. It was a 2 hour 20 minute total trip which was not bad.

It was raining when we got to Bremen so picture taking was difficult. We didn’t have any plans so I bought a map/book and we wanted to find somewhere to eat lunch. We wandered towards the ...
Bremen, Germany plcouttsiep... to my surprise it was 2 blocks away from the train station. You can actually see the train station from the entrance to the building. Yet anyways, I called Norbert and he was already at the office so he came down and took me up to the office. It was really cool to see, it had a lot of the same feeling that we have in San Diego. Then Norbert showed me around and we talked a little business and then headed out to tour the city. Again much to my Surprise ...
Bremen, Bremen, Germany drunkendidier... cute. The centre has lots of old buildings that are pretty. It also has a area that has all little windy streets which is pretty cool. Oh yeah, Becks beer is also from this area and they have a brewery here,

I really have just wandered around the town and rested up as I needed a bit if a break before heading up to Scandinavia in the next few days. This was a nice little town to do that in - aside from the excessive rain today it has been pretty good.

Bremen, Bremen, Germany jrmelando... windmills in their proposed locations.

Anyway, I spent the last few hours in the afternoon helping process a sample of sand from a North Sea soil core. I was assisting with a "shear box" test, where you apply a normal force to a small cylindrical sand sample and look for the material's failure point. You can do this using three different loads (150 kN, 300 kN, and 450 kN), and then you graph the results and find some parameters like maximum shear strength, cohesion, and angle of ...
Bremen, Bremen, Germany mankyoldboot23... laundry in the whole town) and visit The Ratskeller in historic downtown. We thought we were going to another Germany brewpub, but instead it was a wine cellar. It’s been around since 1405 and had ornate wine kegs decorating the large rooms. Just about everything on the menu had mushrooms in it. And my favorite statue that we have seen so far was here. It’s called the Bremen Town Musicians and I just learned is quite famous.

Bremen, Bremen, Germany sasaharty... five is the general hubbub bub that seems to surround our hotel at all hours of the day and night. While we, the delightful Mrs. Gam and I, are generally satisfied by this hotel, if we had it to do over again we would have asked for a quieter room. I guess we are spoiled by our good luck: usually we seem to get good quiet rooms without having to ask. This time, well . . . Your 'got his fingers in his ears' pal, Davy
Bremen, Germany davy_gam... buildings were so gorgeous and the atmosphere was just perfect! As the weeks go by, we're getting quite a feeling that Christmas is right around the corner, especially when you walk around and there are Christmas lights everywhere, people playing the accordion and all the store displays are all with a Christmas theme!! After visiting the Dom, finding the Town Musicians Statue and the statue of Roland, we headed off to find Böttcherstrasse which was where there was a ...
Bremen and Bonn, Germany natfatica... Should I turn around and head for home? My family would be worried. Maybe I could call and ask for a lift back? Out of the question. After half an hour the sky had brightened and the rain was letting up. Back on the bike I headed for Wakefield. The rain stopped, the sun came out and apart from puddles blocking lanes of traffic you wouldn't have believed a storm had just passed over. Later, listening to the news, I heard that a mini ...
