... So viel ist schon passiert, so wenig habe ich bisher erlebt. Neue Freunde, eine 2te Familie und ein ganz anderes Leben erwarten mich hier. New York, meine neue Liebe!

Jetzt, mit mehr Zeit und Muse widme ich mich dem langersehnten Lebenszeichen. :)

Viel Spaß beim lesen!

Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany newyorklovesme... Italy. They are really actually small towns instead of cities, consisting of tiny and brightly painted apartment buildings, crawling down the cliffs to the ocean. These apartments and small stores are split with narrow, maze-like alleyways that are incredibly exciting to explore and impossible to keep track of.
In Cinque Terre there are approximately four things to occupy your time: eating, drinking, laying on the beach, and hiking. Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehans(Whitney)

We had a long trip from Naples all the way up to the Black Forest in Germany so we split it up with a stop overnight in Florence. We love Florence so we were excited to go back again. We arrived in the afternoon so we did some quick shopping and bought a leather jacket each. We also went and had a look in the Duomo as we never got a chance to actually go in when we were there last time. We had dinner at the hostel with two Aussies from our room ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany steveandwhitney... in things that involved their land, their culture. While world issues seem very far away, historic events like the Potato Famine seem present in their every day lives. It is also a culture very focused on death. Apparently funerals are a huge event in the Irish countryside with absolutely everyone attending. Much bigger than weddings, they last three days and are filled with high-spirited drinking. Additionally, there are death announcements every several
hours ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehans... started in 1248 but not finished until 1880. At that time it was the tallest building in the world.
It was awesome inside with the high vaulted ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows. It has a golden alter which contains their relics, supposedly some of the bones of the Three Wise Men.
This afternoon was the time to pack as we arrive in Amsterdam tonight. We’re in the first group to leave tomorrow for the airport and have to be ready by 5:45 a.m.

Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany tucsonjohnKoln

After our Rhine cruise we drove in the coach to Koln (Cologne). Cologne is well-known for a few things, including perfume (4711 in particular), its Roman origins (as a colony – hence the name) and for its twin spired Gothic cathedral. We stopped for a little over an hour in the main square.

The cathedral houses the bones of the three Magi ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany woodsfamilyThis is not a great adventure, more a welcome back.

It is great to be back in Villiprott to visit our old friends since the 70ies. Now I have been staying with them for two weeks and we have done a lot of different things. This part of Germany have many interesting places to visit, both nature and culture.
Villiprott, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany erikdal... and Amsterdam in Netherlands. Philip and Lawrence both took their cars over for the tour, with highlight of the Nürbergring racetrack. As they say, what happens on tour stays on tour, but we had a brilliant time. Here's a few pictures and video's from the Germany part of the trip, courtesy of Elias, who had the commonsense to bring a camera.
Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany danielringrose... co-conspirator (in terms of strategic communications) at 11pm. Luckily the hotel had given me a key, otherwise his gerney would have come to an abrupt end at the locked doors of the hotel. We searched high and low wandering the deserted Sunday night time streets of Bonn, before we settled on an Irish pub which was across the street from ...
Bonn, Germany nomadic... this country. Sidetracked by the schnitzel, the next day we were able to get back to the point of our trip, namely soccer. Dan's eldest host brother with his friends challenged the Americans to a game of sandlot soccer. With teenage exuberence bordering on puke-inducing arrogance the Germans, very true to their national opinion, believed the Americans would be nothing more that a nice confidence boost. 30-40 minutes later, the Americans had so totally ...
