... to Alanya, I opted to take the coach this time instead of hitch hiking. I got into the station at 6:30 and then took a city bus to get closer to the beach. I think I was pretty much in the wrong neighbourhood for cheap hotels but was able to negotiate a room down from 50 to 30 TL. The apartment had a living room, kitchen, dining area and bedroom!

Now for a walk-about town for the evening...

Alanya, Antalya, Turkey stephanberlin... and slippery paths, I think. Saw a European Robin by the way. From Silifke to Alanya Leaving early after breakfast we hit the road with the firm determination to reach Antalya shortly after lunch. The road decided otherwise. The Turkish know about the third dimension. We went left, right, up, down, sometimes in the opposite direction of a course steered just seconds before. In short: A motorcyclist's wet dream. Also we arrived at a place where they had just ...
Alanya, Turkish Mediterranean Coast, Turkey robertandtanja... it would be the perfect place to spend the next three days. As it is it is chilly and overcast most of the time. The way our tour is set up we don't stay with the same group the whole time. We have bus tickets from point to point. Someone picks us up at the bus station and takes us to our hotel then a van picks us up and takes us on a tour. Then they take us back to our hotel and in the morning a van takes us to the bus station and we start over. But here, in Fethiye, we ...
Fethiye, Turkey yoni... into the category of 'backpackers' but I don't know how much we associate with most of the ones we see here lounging around on the cushions, smoking and looking cool. They either seem to be Generation Y hippies or lager louts just here for the beer. Perhaps we have become a little snobbish but we like to think of ourselves as a different category of travellers. We are not here to find spiritual enlightenment and we're not here to get wasted every night and ...
Olympos, Turkey jambo... Damo felt energetic and even swam out to the castle while I lay like a lazy whale on the beach! From Kizkalesi we headed along the coast road towards Alanya. Unfortunately the coastal road was slow as it wound it and out so we made a decision to head inland. Not the best decision ever made on our part. It took us 9 hours and part of the road wasn't sealed and ...

Salcuk, Turkey ants... and gaze at the remains of old stone forts, churches, temples, and an Acropolis. I would go swimming for forty five minutes at a time, which is a lot for my lazy ass, as I'm not a great swimmer, but with so much to look at the time would just fly. On a few occasions, I would leave Kelly reading on the beach and go exploring in the woods by myself. Just an outstanding way to spend an afternoon. Climbing small mountains and picking my way through the foliage and every so often ...
