    ... the photos don't do it justice. It is amazing. And the whole back of the house is windows looking out onto the view. Wow!!








    We sat on the deck for awhile, then had dinner and spent a quiet evening visiting. Somehow we managed to not take a picture of Bob or the dogs Boston the boxer and Mike the Yorkie.

Highway landscaping programs have resulted in bushes, shrubs, and even rows of trees alongside the road, a sort of make believe landscape that cuts the traveller off from what one encounters on the back roads where people actually live their lives. The horticultural choices vary with region and climate but not by much. So you get 3000 miles of mind-numbingly boring scenery.

    ... rocky and moody, with fog and mist creating a solemn mood. It never really got clear there, and the days were short and gloomy. But there is a beauty in that type of weather and rawness that I almost prefer to the unrelenting sunniness of the southern CA coast or the desert.     ... trip we took was to Cane Falls. Not knowing how far it was to the bottom of this large waterfall, we took off on the trail. This was an adventure that we weren't sure we could make!!
