Finally we reached the main town of Motomachi and went to Hama-no-yu onsen. This is an outside hot spa on a cliff overlooking the port. All I can say is, you MUST ride this, and any/everywhere on the Izu Peninsula at some point in your life. You must do this especially if you consider yourself a keen moto tourer. ... It turned out that Ito also has beautiful nature, and the hostel was really nice. So first about the onsen etiquette. When you go in, you undress completely then you go into the next room. Here you rinse/wash yourself in the shower, while sitting down on a small stool (no standing). Then you just sit in the hot water and relax for a while. ... is good yes, but as the view often is moisty, cloudy or foggy (at least when I was there) I prefer the clear view sunset.
From there it isn't far to a very good restaurant, which my boss and I visited on another motorcycle tour. We ordered and rodered everytime we returned, the Wasabi steak. A delicious steak with wasabi dressing, some wasabi with it and noodles and salad and all the other good stuff :-) It's really really good! ...
