... road shouldn’t be a 6 hour trip during at least heavy rain, maybe a bit of typhoon.
A cheaper and easier option would be to find a hostel for one night and then see what I do tomorrow. Still at the desk, I request the onna no hito to direct me towards Kagoshima’s cheapest establishment, at the same time getting in touch with the host I had planned for that night to tell him of my change in plans.

We felt very privileged and were treated very well in the ryokans, I'll miss Japan.
We also enjoyed the 7 samurai home village, with bonsai and the intriguing kanakasi airplane fighters museum with photos of all of them. They looked so young and an old man giving a talk about it, still a lot of interest, after all these decades. No photos allowed.
We had an earliesh breakfast at about 6.45am. We didn't have to be at the station till about 8.30am but Owen said to be there 15 minutes earlier. Anyway, we checked out of this very nice Sheraton Hotel and got to the station by 7.45am. There were a few from the tour already there.

They only occupy about 40000 sq ft but have everything, water complete with little islands, the arch bridge, and little miniature moutains, everything so compact. It is extremely hot today and very humid , it had rained again overnight and was raining this morning when we woke up. Back to the ferry, it's time to get back to the shuttle and the ship. While we are looking at the volcano from the ferry, there is a big puff of grey smoke that billows into the air. That must have been a big burp! Back on the ship we are required ...
