... Puts some of NZ construction to shame.
Purchased a hat, looks a bit pommy but different. Cork is all the rage here. I decided against cork. This is straw??They are trying to reinvent demand for cork as the wine industry moves to screw caps. Not that we noticed here.

      On top of Algarve

This is Monchique. 820m above the plains of the Algrave.
Our GPS took us up a single lane intrepid local road. A bit scary at times. Should have known better and stay on the beaten track. We got there unscathed and meeting the only vehicle on the road at a very convenient point. Otherwise we might have uncorked a cork tree. It was a bit like a James Bond drive but in a campervan, no guns involved. Phew.. Great view.

We leave for Lagos. It has started to rain so head for a camp with electricity and facilities. Gayle gets a hair ...

... guide on aires in Algarve.

So from just one friendly enquiry, we came away all sorted - a great day all around.

Much later, with a smile on our faces (and a lot more LPG on board), we left Aljezur and headed for the coast. We were now back on the rugged Atlantic sea. We got a little lost but found the beachside site recommended to us by the Patricia.

We are in sunshine again. Fantastic. ...

      We arrive in Algarve

A travel blog entry by plimmerton on Nov 23, 2014

... asada style. We did not try but they looked good. The rain did arrive. We were heading to a camp, but found an aire in the centre of town. I went fro a walk to the top of the hill to see the ruins of the old fortress. This was the last fortress in the area to win back land from the moors. I got reasonably wet but it was a nice ...
