Sunshine, sea, a bit of a laugh

... to get our bearings, Mum and Dad pointing everything out. Went for a drink in PaddyWack´s on the seafront, bought some fresh fish and went to the local market for a root around. Lym barbecued dinner that night for us all, which was magnificent, then we played WHOT, Triominoes and Rummikub. rock on!

We awoke early, prepared a packed lunch and all of us headed for a bit of a hill (Annabelle - it was a mountain!) walk which ...

The journey begins

The day as finally arrived to begin our 6 month break, away from the damp, wet climate of Mid Wales. The plan is to drive from here to Portsmouth to catch the Pride of Bilbao ferry bound for Bilbao, a journey that takes about 36 hours. The only part to worry about is the crossing across the ...

Return of the Mand.

Well would you believe it? I've been working for the last 2 days. A friend of Dave's who I met a couple of weeks ago needed a Brickie to build a couple of pillars. So, I dusted off the old trowel. It's been a long time but you never lose it.

Amanda is back tonight. I'm picking her up at Alicante Airport at about 11.30pm. Lucy and me have really missed her and we are both looking forward to seeing her...Ahhh.

Turn it on again

I got up nice and early and was outside the Bank at 8.30 when they opened. I explained the situation and they asked me for the fax receipt which I didn't have. After a lot of huffing and puffing by the cashier she went and got out my paper file. Low and behold there was the receipt that they neglected to give to me the last time. It was duly resent and this time I made sure I had both receipts...Memo to self...Make sure you ...

... the air traffic from Alicante or Murcia.

So there I am playing with the remote control of my new toy when everything goes off! What's up? I check out the fuse box but everything is OK. Looking out of the window I can see the man from Iberadola driving off...I've been cut off again..AGHHH!

Phoned the electric company who tell me they have no record of the payment from 2 weeks ago so I need to go to the Bank and get them to re-send it but of course the Bank has just closed ...

Leaving on a Jet Plane

We have been having a really lazy time for the past 10 days or so except for the cleaning and unpacking of course. Apart from a couple of bike rides into San Miguel one of the neighboring towns we haven't been far.

The weather has remained ...

And the Lord said; "let there be light"

... of an excellent meal and a nice bottle of red at The Square, followed by a few Guinness's and entertaining company at The Shandon Bells, we can see our house in the distance...How much have we had to drink?..Are we seeing things?..No we're not..What light from yonder window breaks?...We've been re-connected!...As the good book says: And the Lord said; "Let there be light"...Well the man from Iberadola did anyway.

Manana...Manana...Manana!

... We couldn't offer them a cold beer because of the electric issue...So, we made do with a couple of bottles of red and and a culinary feast of Burgers from Che takeaway...sitting out on the Balcony by candle light...Well a battery lantern but candle light sounds so much more cosy.

Hopefully we'll be re-connected tomorrow.

An electric shock on arrival!

... to be reconnected? 24 hours after receipt of payment...But the Banks are closed now of course!!!

Well there's no point in getting down about it...at least the weather is hot...So, after a cold shower...We are going to treat ourselves to a nice meal at Eduardo's with a nice bottle of Rioja Tinto...Rounded off by half a dozen Guinesses at the Shandon Bells...We'll do what the Spanish do...Sort it out....manana.

... some challenges with reverse gear. Once we were shown that you have to lift a ring on the gear shift we were fine. We were starting to settle down and feel more comfortable. We missed the road we were to take and ended up driving all over Torrevieja in the dark. Joanne's challenges of knowing left from right was quite amusing. Watching her hold her right hand up and sternly claiming that it was her left hand, and then holding her left hand up and claiming that it was her right ...
