      ... People very much keep to themselves and behave very quietly. The biggest noise is the olives that drop and and give a little roll on our roof. On our right are Germans (who I haven't let on to speaking German so I can eavesdrop, but unfortunately they hardly speak) who clean and tidy and wash the van constantly (although that seems to be the motor homing males prime occupation) Their neighbours have pot plants that sit in the sun with them.       ... is low season, almost every beach was deserted. Though the water was still too cold to go in without a wetsuit, it remained refreshing and pleasant to dive into. I didn't expect to fully dive into the water to be honest, but a good ol' surprise wave flipped our kayak sending that idea out to sea.

      Silves (sounds like Silvesh) is a lovely town. We drove from Portimao about 20 kms. Castello was interesting, built by the moors (Arabs) including a 1.2m litre water tank dug in the rock. Now you can walk inside. Used for over a 1000 years and retired in 1980's. Not bad ...
