... the north-east point whilst Playa Caribe is a fantastic curve of white sand a bit further along.

Juan Griego is a town on the North-west coast which you pass through to get to ‘La Restinga’. This is a 22km sandbar of broken seashells that join the Eastern and Western parts of Margarita. Behind the restinga is a national park of a large wetland area of mango swamps, running down to the beach, where over 100 species of birds live. We took the ...
Margarita Island, Venezuela suenson_taylors... but thanks to Andrea’s “cola” weaving skills and Armando buying our tickets for the bus we even managed to get some arepas to eat before we left. Once we arrived Tita took us to get some empanadas for breakfast, which were very tasty. Then onto her swimming pool for the perfect antidote to our tiring journey.

My time in Margarita is now drawing to a close, it has been a great place to relax before the hard work starts!
Margarita Island, Venezuela vickicooperI am here in Ciudad Bolivar trying to catch up with the blog entry that I have missed over the last few days. This was just a small trip to Isla de Margarita and I never knew that there was such a place, nothing happens and everything is happening. There is so much development here but the transport to the Island is appalling, at least the one we were on ...
A surpresa: conseguimos chegar no aeroporto a tempo, pegar as malas entregar o carro na locadora e ...... o voô estava atrasado ...
Isla Margarita, Isla Margarita, Venezuela ricardoalberoni... living in Venezuela for 8 years, so he could give us some good advice! From Puerto la Cruz, we took a boat to a small remote beach called Puinare, on the Parque Nacional Mochima. The landscape was really awesome and we managed to eat a huge and delicious grilled fish on the beach! From Puerto la Cruz, we took the ferry to Isla de Margarita, where we are now. 5 hours of transportation in a super noisy ferry (hum indeed, it ...
Porlamar, Venezuela frenchies... little beachside town - relaxation and rejuvination was definitely achieved which was most necessary after months on end of snow and screaming children! The week soon drew to a close though but due to good old Québec's persistence in having such a crazy winter this year our flight was delayed by a whole day due to yet another snowstorm - eeeeek! All in all as absolutely cracking holiday - gracias Margarita!
Porlamar, Venezuela kristenmc... business elites and the oil-oligarchy kept up the façade of democracy by secret pacts. What Chavez proposes through his 21st Century Socialism, theoretically could help Venezuela achieve a more egalitarian and productive society moving away its historic dependency on oil. However, he needs to tackle corruption. Arming the corrupt bureaucratic-elite with more power and scope for corruption (e.g. through more state regulation, price and exchange rate controls) is a ...

Dependency on a larger private company for training, and in some cases, products may be risky in itself if it decides to abandon the project at some point...thereby creating unemployment of all those working in the franchise. Then there are the actual implementation risks. What if the people benefiting from these franchises end up being the already ...
Porlamar, Venezuela sheenasumaria... islands of Los Frailes and the two dives cost me about $45 USD, that wasn't all that much. And the diving was WORLD CLASS! I had forgotten how spectacular the ocean can be, though I think this dive site is especially good - visibility over 30 meters, the water warm and cristal clear and such an amount of fish I've probably never seen! I saw as an example Puffer Fish for the first time, which is one bizzarre fish! Looks extremely ugly, with huge ...
Porlamar, Coastal Islands, Venezuela thrudur... the easily 5 -8 foot waves. What was fun for a while took its toll eventually. The rip curl at the beach was so strong that every time I jumped into a wave I ended up 20 feet down the beach. While the rip curl itself wasn't dangerous because it was moving along the beach and not out to sea, it was very tiring trying to walk back through the water to the spot where our stuff was. After a few jumps my legs gave out and I had to give up and walk the 100 yards back to my seat ...
