... it is safe to swim, but there are championship surfing beaches. Just up the coast from Nazare, in the recent spring storms there was a 100ft high wave - you may have seen pictures in the press or on TV.
we left Nazare to drive some distance to our next site near Pombal.

David came by for a quick visit before heading off to work. We had a late start because we were up so late last night. Obidos is a medieval walled city and castle. We spent the morning at the beach which was very relaxing, especially compared to all of the touring that we have done the past week. I swam in the Atlantic Ocean which was really cold.
