... hunky males (3000 kilos worth).

On the beach today were adolescent sea lions - under 5 years old who were about the size of three Martin Johnsons or cubs trying to avoid the larger Elephant seals and waddle to the sea and the one year olds who are full of fever and malting and spend their time throwing sand over them. It was a joy to watch and if the sand was not blowing in our face we could have easily sat there for a few hours.

After ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina prieststrip... your hands, flippers and goggles and nudge you when you stopped playing. It was like having 30 puppies in the ocean all wanting to play at the same time. At the end of the 45 mins, they had to pry Kathryn from the water as she did not want it to end. We followed this with a 15 min scuba dive in a ship wreck.

Overall, Puerto Madryn was lots of fun and possibly one of the best places we have visited on the trip.
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina anthonykathryn... in the mating rituals, having many males waiting there turn to copulate with her. We saw them trying to turn an upturned female to access the necassary region: "See how the males work together and then wait for their turn. They do not compete with eachother for the female." said Orlando (enter thought of Me and Christo at Uni....hmmm...)

After the hour and a half boat trip we were dropped safely on land and headed to a bar for some questionable breaded steak the locals call ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina jrolfe... suck it up though and get on with it cos it really was the best option. So, that decided, we headed out early to pick up our hire car at 8am so we could get a good start on the day. We got to the rental office just before 8 and as it was still closed we waited outside. We waited, and waited....and waited....eventually somebody turned up at 8.30 and told us that the car rental agency didn´t usually open til 9am (grrr, we had arranged an 8am pick-up). Ach well ...

Puerto Madryn, Argentina coleauxv... in. We grabbed some of the free breakfast (bread, spreads, coffee and tea) and watched a movie. The hostel we chose was rated #1 in all of South America. Not sure that I agree just yet but it was pretty good. The rest of the day was spent exploring this beach town. I it is much like Monterey bay. The ocean was super flat. I can only remember a single day in Miami where I ever saw the water so flat like glass.
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina gpalecek... but does feel like any such area that seem to be the fashion in most modern cities these days. Monday: We took the Subway over to Recoleta and perhaps the most famous tourist attraction in Buenos Aires The Cementerio La Recoleta, it is where the rich bury their dead and where perhaps Buenos Aires most famous daughter was finally laid to rest (More on that later!!). Its an amazing place, and not like any cemetary you are likely to see in England. The tombs ...
Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina loumark... reach 40 degrees c!! They make there nest in burrows and return each year to the same one. You can walk by them and they don´t pay any attention to you. THe only rule is that you give way to them when they are coming or going from their nests. They currently have young with them. I would have loads of pics to show you but sods law my battery ran out after only 4 pics!! I´m going to try and get some from some friends to ...
Puerto Madryn, Argentina tboxtracy... dancers.

Thursday we enjoyed our second of three days at sea. As with the day before, we did not see Jim and Carol until dinner time. Joyce and I attended various briefings during the day. The first was the Captain and Staff Captain telling about what to expect when we are in Antarctic waters. They should have their own comedy show. From a distance the Staff Captain reminded Joyce and me of Mike Julien and listening to him was even more like Mike with the ...
