... the completion of our tour we headed out of Louisiana. One our way we crossed to longest continuous bridge across water in the world, which stretches 38kms across Lake Pontchartrain. My friend Marco woke me up with a phone call at 9 in the morning, 4 hours after I fell asleep. Part of me wanted to kill him because I couldn't fall back asleep, but another part of me loved him because I was up early enough to catch breakfast at the hotel. The Crescent Line leaves New Orleans at 7 a.m. every morning. The end of the line is New York City. The train station in New Orleans is much larger and relatively much nicer than the station in Birmingham. And maybe the people leaving New Orleans train station were a little stranger.

... Andrew Jackson (who later became president Jackson) led an army that defeated the British at New Orleans harbor. There was a pretty informative presentation at Jackson square to commemorate the event and later that night fireworks.
