... one local told me that this was cool compared to the weather they had been having last week.

Upon our arrival in New Orleans we noticed two things, everyone pronounces it N'awlins and everyone says "all y'all" a lot. I also noticed, and I don't know when or how this happened, but the phrases "Sir" and "Ma'am" seem to have crept in to my vocabulary.
