... in. Fuelled with determination from the last minute defeat a couple of days ago by one of these, Pete and Tom worked furiously to reel these two in. One huge and one big one! The boys were satisfied. Next to take a lure was a Wahoo and then a mackerel. By mid morning tired from reeling, scaling and filleting the boys decided that was enough to feed us for a few days and that would do, it was time to bring the lines in. Just like the quote from Babe, "That'll do pig, that'll do."
Nassau, Bahamas bellavita... it startled me. I thought it was a big search light shining down on me. Guess I was starting to get punchy!! Without the engine, it was very quiet (except for the wind gen). Since we had all our instruments, lights, and radar on, we wanted to stay charged so kept the gen on. At one point in the night Dave woke me to check the radar off our starboard. I ran downstairs to look but there was nothing on the screen to our starboard ...
MARSH HARBOR, Bahamas takinbetzApril 21, 2009 - Big Major to Warderick Wells N24 23.678 W76 37.943 We lifted anchor at Big Major at 10:15AM heading for Warderick Wells. The weather for the week is going to turn NE to E 20-25 kts so we've decided on Warderick Wells as a hidey hole until the winds moderate. Today it's 15-20 kts ESE so we had almost a following sea which was a nice change. Even on the Bank the seas were 5-6'. As I was mesmerized by the waves, I noticed that one ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... hours! Tomorrow we're having Easter Dinner potluck on the beach - ham and turkey provided - the rest is up to us. I've decided on sweet potatoes since I have a large can of them! Returning to Spindrift I went down below and noticed a suspect amount of what looked like watery, sugary poop! And it was on the nav station, on the table and kitchen counter and an apple in the bowl had been pecked ...
WARDERICK Wells CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... messes and have done a slightly better job of securing our belongings to take the trip from Chub to Nassau - 39 miles - across the open ocean again. The Tongue is kicking butt and as we leave Chub we are heading into 7-9' waves and the deep, deep navy blue water that I love so much. At the Key Biscayne YC there is a mosaic in the ground that says "The Sea Loves Only Those Who Fear It ...
Nassau, Bahamas takinbetz... lost in the Chalks airplane crash. Chalks has been flying for years down here. Also passed the Compleat Angler's spot - it burned down a few years ago - it was the favorite of Hemmingway, After our fifteen minute tour - we headed back to the boat and breezes. Tomorrow we are heading across the bank for Chubb and then on to the Exumas across the Tongue!
Alice Tow, Bahamas takinbetz... day. Apparently the Spanish begin with a small breakfast before 10:30 and then have tapas (appetizers, finger food) around noon. Lunch is not served until 2pm and this is their biggest meal of the day. After lunch has time to settle, more tapas are to be enjoyed until dinner which is served at 9:30-11pm. If you can't already tell, the Spanish eat a lot constantly throughout the day! I'm so excited to get there and get some real ...
Atlantic Ocean, Florida, Bahamas claudiv... miles until we got to the downtown. I was so full. The big event for us in Nassau was to safely pass through customs back into the United States. To our surprise there was a US immigration station at the Nassau airport. In my mind this meant if anything went wrong we stayed here instead of being turned around in NYC. I double checked that nothing in any part of my luggage had any Cuban marking, especially the ...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas nomadlobster... and everyone i talked to loved it, it was much more expencive though. walking through the streets of nassau it seemed to be very touristy and pricy which many street vendors attampting to sell you watches and ciguars. remember nothing is free no matter what they tell you, i got a "free" necklace and upon receiving it was requiered to make a donation of 5 dollars to the "children". so just be aware. the beaces in nassau are beutifull and stunning, and it was ...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas jmb021TRYING TO NOT GET KICKED OUT OF ATLANTIS While in the Bahamas, I didn't focus on any of the typical ocean activities like snorkeling or fishing, I didn't even see the beach! Instead, I just had to satisfy my curiosity of the world famous Atlantis resort! I tried to blend in ...
