... bear and a woman who is a bass. It was a man. After buying 15 euro tickets and being rows 3 and 4 away from the stage, we went to her hostel to make sure her stuff was there and picked up her coat. We then went to a brewery and talked with the bar tender. I bought a glass to add to my collection in the States. After the opera, we went to get food. We found a sushi place and I ordered us 4 rolls. The guy gave us 4 rolls each. He told us that yeah it was a lot of food. ...

Now, I don't know the first thing about mushrooms, despite the reputation I might have as a Dutchie. I think my Dad the Biologist skipped something in my education there. I vaguely remember a mushrooming expedition in Sweden when I was 6 or 7, but my most vivid memories of that trip are actually of the home-made cranberry compote that accompanied the deer or wild boar we had for dinner.

We had a bit of sleep in. At 9 we went down to have some breakfast at the Elefant hotel. It was very busy, seemed like everyone wanted to eat at the same time. The breakfast was generally very bland but it was food, enough to get us going for the day. We took the bus to the old town. It was €1.20 and took about 10 minutes. It was hot in the bus. ... the impression that, instead of carefully packed cupboards, we were flying in close formation with our cutlery and crockery. Most of the road was single carriageway, with an unpaved 'hard shoulder' on either side no more than a metre wide. Most trucks kept up a reasonable speed. After all they had tracks to drive along. But the odd slow one pulled over to let you past. Passing involved driving into a wall of thick dust and hoping nothing was coming. ...
