... to explore the grand mansion which had colonial style grandeur from richer times, but a glory long past. Once there would have been servants and a bustling family life, elegance and grand gatherings, or so one can imagine. Very moorish and had plenty of narrow streets to get lost in and hidden squares with cafes in which to enjoy a coffee or maybe something a little stronger - if back on the island in the future thus would be a nice place to have as a base. The 1970s purpose built resort of Binibeca Vell was also worth a visit - probably a nightmare in the peak summer season - as it was built to resemble an old Spanish fishing village with lots ...

... fishy" about the place (pun completely intended!) and I was right - the water was full of all sorts of creatures, big fish, little fish (no cardboard boxes!), crabs, snails of all sorts of colours, eels and jelly fish... In fact, in true John form, he managed to get stung on the ear - which was quite painful for a bit but seemingly fine after a pint! We stopped for another swim in the sea on the way back and it was amazing how clear the water was. ...
