    ... elementary school a wedding reception was borrowing the play ground for a party later in the evening; All throughout our meal the sound system was being checked by playing traditional Greek music.     Last night we had some fun swimming in the pool - Kelly tried to teach chris to float without much success. Over our time on Crete we've met a bunch of people from the Netherlands. The owners of the hotel we're staying at are Dutch, so we think that might be why there are so many Dutch people here. So we've been talking to them about Dutch food and they keep encouraging us to order the croquettes at the hotel, which is a Dutch snack that ...

    ... and headed up the coast road, stopping at a couple of beaches on our way back to the hotel. The beaches were quite gravelly, with lots of pebbles, great little taverna, and the water was so warm it was like being in a bath. After the coolness of the waters in Santorini and Mykonos, it was exceptionally nice to get in and have a float about in the near-waveless water.

    Today we went on a hike through the hills to a small cove. Once we got there, we went snorkeling and saw tons of little fish. I had never been snorkeling before, so it took some getting used to breathing through the snorkel, but once I got the hang of it I had a lot of fun.
