The darkness of the desert was overpowering. I had never seen the stars like they shined in the desert. As the moon found its way behind the dune at our backs, even more stars shone through the black canopy. I could not help but just look up at the sky. I could not get enough of it.

... Everything was already set up, so we ate lunch right when we got there. After we ate lunch, as Abdul predicted there was a sandstorm so the crew had to reinforce the tents. Vienna and I went out and played in the sandstorm because we were feeling very energetic. I covered my face (except for my eyes) with a scarf so no sand got in my lungs.

Two marathon finnish lines in the desert

I'm sat in a comfortable air-conditioned hotel room. First air-con anywhere in morocco. It feels amazing. The hotel is 300m from the edge of the saharan dunes. I've done it. Travel Marathon completed.  I walked up to the first of the saharan dunes at the back of the hotel, and sat on the first drifted stack of yellow sand. The last few steps of a 2000 mile journey. Done.  Ahead, the dunes increasingly rose in crested waves to moutain-like hills over 100 ...
