The Hotel Marguerite is a slightly expensive but worthwhile stop. The service is great, the staff friendly and supportive, the WiFi excellent and a good breakfast. What more can you ask!

    Sweet but standard

This was a sweet little hotel, very centrally located. The room itself was fairly standard but everything was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was newly renovated, large and spacious. Most of the character seems to be from the outside but nothing to complain about either.

This is the section of the Loire which is UNESCO World heritage listed and …

... lost the whole day to Chambord. Again we found the photos we took did not do justice to the scale of the Chateau. After some exploring around some smaller villages we returned to Orleans. Here we visited the massive cathedral and wandered around the old town. On our last night in Europe we celebrated with Cafe Gourmand at a local ...

We woke this morning to thick fog and 3C - Paris humid and 32C seems a distant memory.
Loaded up with all fog lights blazing, we drove north & west on the autoroutes until we stopped for lunch at Chateau de Chenonceau.
The tree lined avenue was impressive and we were pleased with our first front-on view of the Chateau, but when ...

    Orleans is a lovely city.
Now we all know of Joan of Arc, but you have to read up a little to really know what she did.
I'll leave the reading to you, or you can ask Gary G, as he will probably know the whole story anyway. Most surprising is how young she was.
