The Hotel Marguerite is a slightly expensive but worthwhile stop. The service is great, the staff friendly and supportive, the WiFi excellent and a good breakfast. What more can you ask!

    Sweet but standard

This was a sweet little hotel, very centrally located. The room itself was fairly standard but everything was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was newly renovated, large and spacious. Most of the character seems to be from the outside but nothing to complain about either.

We bid farewell to chateau country today. Not only were we saying goodbye to the wonderful Chateau Chambord this morning, but our destination tonight of Orleans (pron Or-lee-on) marks the end of the first section of the Loire Valley section of the Loire a Velo Route. This is the section of the Loire which is UNESCO World heritage listed and …

... to close the ablutions! (And there is still no soap in the dispensers - 3 days now!) So we chose to take a trip out and have lunch. Came across Montoire sur Le Loir. Le Loir is a different river to the Loire. It is smaller. However it was a lovely town, adjoined to another village called Lavardin with medieval castle ruins. The market was on but we didn't buy anything and we had a ...

After a night of little sleep I needed a coffee so for the second time in my life I purchased and drunk a coffee it was only a mocha and I added a lot of sugar but still. It was and adventure of a morning we had to get to a specific train station that would take us to Orleans and there are hundreds of stations and lines in Paris, after about an hour of trying to figure out how to get there we found the easiest was to take the train from the airport then change lines to get ...

    Overnight, Marboue

... I have no internet. I try the French couple parked next to us. They fiddle about with it, but, seem to think it has not worked.

I cycle the 2 miles back down the road to McDonalds, to use their Wifi to do my essential banking transaction.

When I get back, I fiddle around some more with the Orange SIM card, suddenly, it works, problem is, I do not know what I did to make it work!

Turns out, that was a false alarm, still not working!

... pair (David and Carol) are actually welsh, but appear to be the most normal and likeable of the lot despite that..

The biggest weakness is that there are no shopping facilities onsite (amazingly for a French site, not even bread), and the village while quite close at about 2km, is along a rather busy road and down (and hence up on the way back) a fairly steep hill. Not good if you are cycling back with a pack beer and a few bottles of wine in your backpack!
