... It's Gandhi's birthday, so we had a little trouble booking places. The one we'd come to last night was lovely but pricey...we had a much cheaper one in line down the road, but after the luxury of Afonsos guest house we were a little reluctant to leave. Fi returned saying that the new place was totally fine, clean and very big and spacious. So we grabbed our bags and checked in. It was then we learnt that not only was it Gandhi's birthday, it ...

... is so, there's crosses everywhere and Jesus paintings all over the place. Our taxi was a prime example with stickers, crosses and even statues on the dash. The drive out of the town highlighted just how quiet it really is once you get just 5 mins away from the hectic beach front. The scenery on the drive out uncannily resembles a very familiar region I've seen in the Kimberley, only thing missing are the moab trees. The beach really was beautiful but not as ...

... It's just a short stroll back to our hotel (via a small supermarket packed with goodies such as chocolate), to escape the midday heat. Our mid-day snack is distinctly British - cheese sandwiches, crisps, chocolate and lashings of ginger beer. Actually, no ginger beer but we did find some peach squash to perk up the mineral water. It's obvious Gill is under the weather as she can only manage one small sandwich and a couple of squares of chocolate ...

... is free!" and understandably, these folks are just trying to earn their keep... but as a tourist, trying to relax.. it can easily go from understanding to pure annoyance when you can't go ten minutes without someone harassing you to buy something. But- then again, we're in paradise, so I guess we can't really complain. One interesting interruption brought us a flyer about a party happening later that night. A 'silent disco' they called it. Get a set ...

... we were looking but it was the wrong hotel. Apparently there are two hotels in the same town with the same name. Back-tracking we pulled up to the one hotel we all commented the first tim we drove by, hoping it wasn't ours. It truly was the Norman Bates hotel of India. All the other hotels/resorts around us looked really nice and quaint with individual bungalows and this hotel was a five story monstrosity with mirrored windows. Inside wasn’t much better in ...
