... is some sort of Expo going on in Milan and there are about 1 million more visitors than usual for this time of year and we have been told that it will probably cost about 40 euros to park for the day. So armed with all this info we head into the traffic. Its only about 50 miles from Lecco to Milan, and most of the drive, once away from the lake area, is large roads. Lake Como, it has to be said, is huge. The water is clear and deep, and in the morning sun, it kind of looks like a grey, teal colour. Very unique. The mountains that rise up from every side of you keep the winds down and make this place unlike anything I have ever seen before. Stopped at St Lucia airfield, a lovely private grass airstrip, for fuel and to have a new set of brushes fitted to the propellor pitch control, by Luigi, the aero maintenance engineer on site. ... and enjoyed our last Italian lunch of pasta, pizza, and wine. We were all in agreement that another longer stay in the Italian lakes area is a MUST!

Sadly we made our way back to Venice to spend the night near the airport. We shared our last evening together eating dinner at the hotel - fortunately the food was outstanding and we all toasted to a lovely and memorable trip.

... a bit annoyed that it's too dark to get decent photos of the beautiful buildings and historical murals... then down to the lakeside which is active, but not really packed with people. I'd think that this would have to be a very popular summer spot for folks from the cities in the plains to get away. I do check prices at a hotel. 35 Euros a night. Actually less then I had thought... but no... I'm switching to camping mode and will only use this option as an emergency ...
