On the 13th of each month from May to October 1917, the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to three shepherd children - Lúcia dos Santos (age 10) and her cousins Jacinta (age 7) and Francisco Marto (age 9) - in the fields outside the village of Aljustrel near Fatima. The children later said that her coming had been preceded by an "angel of peace ...

Before we left the restaurant, several Sicilians tourists wanna take pictures with us. They didn't speak any English... and I was trying to ask "di dove sei".... well they didn't reply either. Anyway, after some confusion we found that they were from Sicily and we took pictures together. One old man said "Buon Viaggio" to us. Before I left, I said "Ciao Ciao, Buon Viaggio!"

We stopped off at the Casa de Ribeira winery for our best visit to a winery yet – a terrific friendly host, a 400+ year old building, a great selection of local snacks for lunch – delivered by the mother of our host and of course great wine. It wasn't so much of a wine tasting as it was "Let’ ...

The Mother of God appeared to three children to bring the message of the gospel back to a world that was slipping away from it. The story began when three ...

Nazare, Estremadura, Portugal inoursuitcase... fraction of what Lisbon has to offer. Donºt ask us to remember the countless historical dates, Kings, Queens, Navigators, castles, monestaries, convents, museums, statues, and/or monuments - but the jist of it is that the Portuguese were adventurous seafarers. Nice thing about Lisbon, most people speak English, you can drink the local water, wine is cheap, food is good (however only spice they know is salt), very clean (streets washed every 2nd ...
Nazare, Portugal travelmenuSexto día Quinta 12 After a pretty standard continental breakfast, we walk again on the beach. The breakers are furious, and there are colossal lifesavers on tall poles all along the beach. Each one has a telephone number, so one presumes that if you are drowning you should call that number and ask for a giant to get it down and throw it out to you. We then take ...
