No hurry to go ashore, must have been around 11am. Tendered in the lifeboats today. Caught the tourist bus, again excellent value for 1.5hrs, €10ea. The commentary was not very informative, brief, and hard to hear, but the sights, the BEACHES, were gorgeous. The cemetery was something else entirely, 45,000 graves - we thought it smelt too! Sort of road killish and when we came back around past it again, ...
... unbeknown to birthday boy, .........Alain the Chef had baked a birthday. cake (chocolate torte) and organised a barbecue on top deck of the boat for a celebration dinner party.
We all dressed up, Kevin with his new shirt,had a wow of time!!! With our barbecue chicken skewers, steak, we had potato rosti and
Desert......out came the birthday cake!!!!!! We asked the crew to join us for dessert.
... and the shutters on the windows added to the colonial feel of the place.
Corsica is a French island but the overriding influence seemed to be Italian in my opinion. Whilst the locals all spoke French, the food and architecture seemed more in keeping with a quaint Italian sea-side town than a French city.
Whatever the influence, we all fell in love with the place almost instantly. I think Barcelona ...
... We were encouraged to find a local product by the name of Acqua del Elba - a perfume/cologne/soap product that is well known and originates here.
