Our hotel was in the old city which made it an ideal place to explore the area. It was in walking distance to the various souks. Clean, comfortable accommodation and friendly staff.

Asked hotel service twice for additional bath towels and face washers - still waiting
Though non-smoking I have my doubts as room had a smell (not necessarily smoke) on entry

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only slight downside is that we didn't realise how far it was from downtown Dubai (thats not the hotels fault and the Metro is easy to navigate!). Service was brilliant and the room was large and clean with everything we needed in it. No complaints at all, great value for money.

Today the 20th August ..we got on the plane in Brisbane at 2100 hrs last night and arrived in Dubai at 0515 local time... There were lots of kids on the plane who seemed to do a whinge tag with each other the whole way. Thankfully I took ear plugs and my trusty travel sick tablets so managed about 6 hours sleep, not so for my travel buddies.... …

TRAVEL DAY - Dubai to Adelaide

Having arrived at the hotel through a quick transfer from the airport we settled into the room for one sleep.

Been in the hotel now for 12 hours and Ros appears to be a little better so hopefully the long flight to Adelaide won't be quite as bad as the flight from Paris for her. She was very …

    Our holiday has started!

We arrived into Dubai International airport from Adelaide on time at 5.15am with Emirates (12.5 hrs flight). Then it took about 20 min for a bus to transfer us from Terminal C to the Terminal B arrival lounge. Dubai Airport is spectacular and huge.

Eventually we found our way to the Arabian Adventures …

All the office buildings seem half empty........sure the 1,000,000 sq.ft shopping centres and crammed full of Westerners dutifully fulfilling their now coded DNA......... the must buy more "shiny stuff" or I am not a complete and useful human being gene! Sure the hotels are beyond excellence...........the restaurants superb and the caviar the freshest on the planet but I still feel it could all come tumbling down. The economy was ...

... earlier. The fountain show was choreographed to Michael Jackson's thriller song and is created by the same team who did the Bellagio fountain show in Vegas. The only problem we had was having our camera lens fogged up for a whole as the show started. Richard also had had this issue the whole day as we went in and out of shops. We then caught our metro home. That was end the end of our last full day. Less than 24 hrs and we would be boarding for the long flight ...
