Our hotel was in the old city which made it an ideal place to explore the area. It was in walking distance to the various souks. Clean, comfortable accommodation and friendly staff.

Asked hotel service twice for additional bath towels and face washers - still waiting
Though non-smoking I have my doubts as room had a smell (not necessarily smoke) on entry

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only slight downside is that we didn't realise how far it was from downtown Dubai (thats not the hotels fault and the Metro is easy to navigate!). Service was brilliant and the room was large and clean with everything we needed in it. No complaints at all, great value for money.

TRAVEL DAY - Dubai to Adelaide

Having arrived at the hotel through a quick transfer from the airport we settled into the room for one sleep.

Been in the hotel now for 12 hours and Ros appears to be a little better so hopefully the long flight to Adelaide won't be quite as bad as the flight from Paris for her. She was very …

    Our holiday has started!

We arrived into Dubai International airport from Adelaide on time at 5.15am with Emirates (12.5 hrs flight). Then it took about 20 min for a bus to transfer us from Terminal C to the Terminal B arrival lounge. Dubai Airport is spectacular and huge.

Eventually we found our way to the Arabian Adventures …

... and headed back to our tree house rooms. These are creaky and they do move when we walk about in them. So there we were fumbling up rickety stairs in the dimly lit entrance, trying to unlock the door when we both realized we were at the wrong room.... We slept OK but we did wake a few times when we heard strange noises. Liz thought it was a lion, I thought it was a frog. Hmmm we have to improve our animal ...

Those of you who know I normally avoid fish like the plague can now get back on your chair, I liked it! And with that bombshell, the first true day of my adventure ends! Early start tomorrow so I can get over to the business center of Dubai and look at all the pretty skyscrapers! Oh and dinner? Cost me £8! I love ...

Dubai mall is something to see. We walked past a million coffee shops to find the right coffee. We are using AED here and again I have no idea how much we're spending. Mainly now because our card could be accessing USD or Euro. Don't know and don't care. But these two coffees are roughly $12. It's still working that's the main thing. Anyway we found Costa coffee again and the mugs are huge. Like spaghetti bowls. You need two hands to ...
