Part 1 - Paris We jumped into our taxi at 7am, bleary eyed but all good. It was a good idea to prebook the taxi on Saturday as the train strike is still ongoing which not only makes it hard to get a taxi as they are so busy but the traffic was gridlocked, even this early. Lucky this was traffic heading into Paris, the trip to the airport was pretty …

Dune Busting and a Camel Named Bubbly

A travel blog entry by teacherintl

... Darwesh which I'm pretty sure is where the term whirling dervish comes from. Anyway this guy could spin! And he had lights and bling on his skirts!

The highlight for me was the camel ride, though. Our camel's name was Bubbly, and we practically galloped. Well, nearly, anyway. We rode through the desert like nomads. I emptied out about a bucket of the Arabian desert from my shoes into the trash when I got back. I might still bring some of it back for Cami as a souvenir.

Dubai in 6 Days - Fast PACE style

Dubai 20/05/2014

Fortunately im staying with a good friend, so the costly Dubai hotels wasn't an issue for me. But sleeping in a sleeping bag on a ********crete floor was the sacrifice.

As my friend was working today I decided to explore Dubai Traveler style!! That means on the cheap.

I learnt quickly cab drivers will try to rip you off. Always go with a metered cab..

Started of killing time at the Dubai Mall (Biggest in world). Plenty to see ...

... down the road he told us that we had five minutes to get rid of it. This was not an easy task as it wasn't the nicest beer. When we arrived at the entrance he said hide the cans and the. Looked at the cabbie and said 'ill give you a good tip sir'. This was to make up for the fact that we were drinking alcohol in public- which is highly illegal in Dubai. It was not the best weather a sandstorm covered the sky and rain was threatening - two things that are quiet rare in Dubai. The ...

Way too much vitamin D.

Hello all. We have been out dune bashing and taking in the HUGE malls. Jo thought she was about to die as we traversed the dunes. She has survived and forgiveness is apparently earned and as yet not forthcoming. We also did the Burj Khalifa, what a view and how the hell did they make it. We have both decided that Chaddy is a mere pimple compared to the Dubai ...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only slight downside is that we didn't realise how far it was from downtown Dubai (thats not the hotels fault and the Metro is easy to navigate!). Service was brilliant and the room was large and clean with everything we needed in it. No complaints at all, great value for money.
