Historical Traveler Reviews Marbella Playa
Disappointed
The hotel catered mainly for spanish, french and german clients. Had we known that the evening entertainment was in spanish we would not have gone.
Overall a nice hotel
Generally a positive experience. The rooms are nice with two double beds, a good sized terrace and a huge bathroom. Everywhere is well kept and clean, the gardens in particular are beautiful. The hotel is situated on a very pleasant beach and has a good swimming pool and outdoor jacuzzi. Previous reviews have complained that the hotel is a long way out from Marbella, it is but I think this is a good thing as Marbella is a concrete jungle, there is a free shuttle bus should you wish to venture in. The food is of good quality. however the dining room is very noisey and busy and you have to share tables. The organisation and service in the bar and restuarant is poor. Entertainment is OK, the flamengo night is excellent but the nights with the animation team are very amatuer. There are not many english people at this hotel, mainly dutch and german. Overall I would say it is worth a visit.
Super
Great hotel
my husband & I had a great staying at the hotel.
Fine restaurant, big rooms (village), extremely friendly staff.
It's about 6 km from the city, hence quied at night.
Own beach, a lot of palmtrees arround the pools.
Nice gymroom.
a must !
Fantastic holiday
My husband, daughter and I had a great week at the Marbella Playa. The food was excellent, the entertainment was great for my daughter who danced the night away til midnight (age 3!!!). The hotel is right on the beach, great indoor and outdoor pool. Would recommend any family or couple (out of season as could get very noisey in the summer holidays). Free shuttle bus into Marbella town daily, clean rooms. Just a great place and wish we stayed longer than a week.
Nice beach
a lovely hotel with excellent facillities. spotlessly clean, and helpful staff. situated close to the beach, where you can enjoy late continental breakfast between 10am.-12 the restaurant, can be busy and noisy, the staff work hard to clear tables, and restock the food,of which there is plenty to choose from, however unless you had it freshly cooked on the grill, was not very hot. There is a microwave if you want to use it.The grounds are well kept, and looks tropical with lots of trees, flowers and shrubs. At night areas are lit up with lights on trees etc,and the overall effect was very pretty. It is a fair way from nightlife of any kind,so if you are looking for "party" type of holiday unless you drive,it is not for you. There is entertainment in the hotel, which to be fair varied from not bad to pretty bad. Children have mini disco at 9pm. for about 15 minutes every night,so as its the same music, can be a bit boring. All ages of people stayed, including some very frail elderly people, and there quite a steep wooden ramp to get onto the beach. We tried the local buses, which were cheap, and came fairly often, and there is a courtesy bus hourly, into Marbella. We did have a nice time, but do prefer more choice to go out at night
Not fun at all
The hotel is beautiful, but the thing is, very far away from the fun stuff, and the entretaiment staff is very, very unprofesional and boring!!!yes it has a bus stop 400.mt ,since the hotel is close to a very importan avenue you have to go thru a brigde and walk a lot, it has abus going to the center, but again it only goes a certain hours, so is hard to keep up, the restaurant are ok, a lot a sea food, but believe me they are very rude, the staff is not friendly at all, and if you want to go to the beach that is right behind the hotel, be ready and bring money cause they charge you 4 euros per chair w/umbrella, I did have ok vacation but I will not go back to this hotel, maybe in torremolino area or puerto banus. good luck. august 2004
Nice week in Marbella Playa
Everything was almost perfect in this hotel, due to the fact that food is excellent and well cooked; just some concern appears with the grill since you'll have from time to time to queue up, even if the cookers are doing their best switching from the grill to the pasta, the vegetables or the pancakes. Junior suites are comfortable and you'll profit by a nice view over the sea. Some reservations may be done with the enjoyment for nights due to the fact that the inner room is somewhat unadequate and probably the entertainment must be reworked and improved. A nice and balanced week anyway.
