... meant we had to wait until the following day before we could fully appreciate that we really were in the middle of a desert. The resort is lovely, but step outside and you are immediately plunged into a moonscape. You have to travel pretty far to find any greenery, but there are some nice sandy beaches nearby. ... Switzerland. Lucky enough they would show Belgium - US on the normal tv tonight at 10 pm. At least we had wifi so we could send some messages and have a drink. We stayed for a bit and than went back over the little mountain road. ... was packed with sun worshippers. The Spanish seem to have no issue with nudity. The ubiquitous hippy element was in evidence with plenty of people wearing clown trousers and sporting dreadlocks, weaving friendship bracelets to sell to the day trippers.

On our way back later that afternoon, even more people were heading towards San Pedro with their tents and bags of provisions for the weekend.

San Jose to Los Escullos

... back to Los Escullos. We passed a few old wells that used donkeys to turn the wheel to bring up the water which would then travel down small aqueducts. The coast line is beautiful with turquoise sea lapping at the base of the cliffs.

I had to do some washing this evening - whilst on the walk and having seen nobody else for hours, I was surprised by a mountain biker whilst using my she-wee. Don’t ask!

Saturday 26th April

Weather: Mucho Scorchio

We packed up and headed to San Jose. The campsite was easy to find and is lovely, shaded by eucalyptus trees. We had a walk around the small marina this afternoon and then went for our first sunbathe on the beach. I wore my new bikini for the first time.

After about 10 minutes I was bored, couldn't get comfy to read my book, covered ...
